After being told I snore (often an obnoxious amount), I did a home sleep study with the ApneaLink through an online provider. This came back with an AHI of 41.
I am wonder if this data is *totally* correct, since I am a bit of a mouthbreather (and the ApneaLink only monitors nose), but there's also an ODI of 37, so I guess I should address this issue. And I received a prescription for auto cpap.
Guess the question is, what should I get? I will probably not be submitting to insurance so I can buy online versus dealing with a DME.
Basically, do I just pick an auto-cpap machine and full face mask (since I mouth breathe sometimes) and see what happens ?
I see there are some travel size machines like the Airsense Mini/ Z1 / etc Is there a reason NOT to buy one of these small machines? Perhaps Louder or doesn't last as long as the full-size versions ?
Thanks for any advice

One of the most popular and most recommended devices is the Resmed Airsense 10 AutoSet for Her.
Don't let the For Her, dissuade you, even if you're male. It is identical in functionality to the Resmed Airsense 10 AutoSet but has an extra optional mode designed for women.
I'm a him, and use the For Her model.
One of the biggest complaints about the portable machines, like the AirSense Mini is the noise.

Same here. I have both the regular Autoset and Autoset for Her. The for Her is my backup.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 8:12 amOne of the most popular and most recommended devices is the Resmed Airsense 10 AutoSet for Her.

Re: Total Newbie - What to buy?
Thanks for the input. I've ordered one of these machines and a F20 mask. Guess we'll see what happens.

The F20 is a good mask choice to start with. I went thru six masks until I stumbled on to the F20. Most every one of us have to try out multiple masks until they find one that is comfortable and doesn't leak. Be sure to bring (or research) all your issues here. You are not alone.... we will help you!

To the OP:
Why are you not going through insurance? Assuming that you're in the U.S., all Obamacare compliant plans will pay "something."

Most have a very large deductible before anything is paid.
