I will share a little story....there is a RT at the DME place that I use that also uses cpap and when I was last in the office to pick up something he and I talked a little about the SoClean ($299 at that DME office). He wanted my thoughts on it and I gave him my thoughts which aren't very positive. Mainly the fact that I have no proof that anything is even sanitized or that it ever needed to be sanitized in the first place (any germs or bugs that get on my stuff come from me anyway and I will be putting those germs right back on the mask once it touches my face) and any slobber, snot, gunk on the mask has to be manually removed anyway.
To me there is a difference between sanitize and clean. You can nuke the snot, slobber, gunk on your equipment but that doesn't remove the gunk. To clean something I happen to think along the lines of removing something. Now someone else might have a different definition I suppose.
He agreed with me in that respect but he said he used one mainly because he liked the smell when he first puts the mask on that he gets with using the SoClean. I had a laugh with him and told him I use a drop of essential oil on a cotton ball next to the air intake to get an aroma that pleases me and it costs a whole lot less than the SoClean.

He also probably didn't have to pay the full $299 since he works there

My thoughts on the SoClean won't ever change. For me...I see nothing positive in it to make me want to spend the money on it.
The only time I might consider it is if my own personal health situation ever changes and my auto immune system gets compromised for some reason so that nuking even my own germs/bugs might be beneficial to my health. While I am still unsure it actually nukes anything...if my immune system was in trouble I would be willing to take any and all extra precautions to help it out.
Now if someone else wants to spend money on it and they feel better about using it for whatever reason they might have...and they sleep better even if it's a placebo...then it's their money and anything that lets us sleep better is fair game in my book.
It's not my job to tell people what to do with their money....so I won't do it. I express my personal opinion about why I don't see the need for it and let them decide what they want to spend their money on. I have a lot of other stuff in my life that I don't necessarily "need" it but I "want" it and that's good enough reason to get it IMHO.
If someone else wants to "want" the SoClean...hey, it's their money and they get to spend it however they want to.
But need...I have my doubts as to actual need for the SoClean. I feel like if something like that was really needed the machine/equipment suppliers would jump on the band wagon and come up with something besides soap and water to clean their stuff.
