oh! and very, very slight gas, which again, visited me in the wee hours of the morning.
When you say "slight gas" - does that mean it was painful or uncomfortable enough to wake you up?

not sure i could stick with something for six weeks without panicking about it. i'm sure at some point i'd just throw back my head, scream AAAARRRGGGHH and change something! anything!!
I had my moments where I was sorely tempted to change something but I kept telling myself that those settings worked once and they could work as well again and they did.

not much patience, me. but i think i'm slowly learning to have a wee bit of patience. it comes with my getting older.
I have never been known to be very patient myself but over time I seemed to have gathered some from somewhere.
Many years ago I used pray to God to give me strength and patience....he never did. What he did was keep sending me trials in life so that I developed my own strength and learned why I needed to be patient. He sent me an answer...just not like I was expecting.

good question. it wasn't painful enough to awaken me, i was already awake. i have this clear difference in my mind between gas and aerophagia. the former is just something that happens, say, after eating a taco. the former, for me, is more of a painful experience. it's like a very tight ball in the pit of my stomach.

at one point a few weeks ago, the aerophagia got to the point where it woke me up and i turned the min pressure down. that tight feeling disappeared at once, without me having to belch or fart.

so that's the difference in mymind.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thanks. I share your view. Not aerophagia unless it hurts. I wake up every single morning loaded with air, and fart a lot. Also comes out during the night. It's been that way since the beginning for me. I think I'm lucky that my body can process all the air this way.

AHEM!

back to me, cuz it's all about me-
screenshot-10-09-18.png
screenshot-10-10-18.png
screenshot-10-11-18.png
oddly enough, i didn't register anything particularly bad on that first graph. i think that's because i got up and bustled about to get to an appoinment. it was kind of like the bad old days when i had to spring out of bed to get to work and i'd just grit it through and not even think about how badly i felt.

however, the next two i felt slightly fuzzy but no mild headache. and no aerophagia in the middle of the night.

i'm TRYING to be patient and let it wash over me. but these numbers are making that hard to do!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Question for you....which would cause you to feel worse the problems with aerophagia or the problems that "maybe" related to needing more pressure (like foggy feeling).
You can reduce the obstructive component of your problems easily with more pressure (how much more is unknown at this time) but you might be inviting the aerophagia monster to come for a visit if you do that.
There's no guarantee that if you kill all those obstructive in nature events (OAs and hyponeas) that you will feel all that much better during the day anyway. Remember it's not all about the numbers. If more pressure ends up messing with sleep quality a lot then you have just traded one problem for another.

there is a joke shared between my wife and i. ever since i've known her, if i ask her to pick between A and B, she will immediately pick C!

i feel like what you are offering up is a false choice. i don't want either one but would prefer to have a lower ahi, with no foggy feeling and no aerophagia. and i will sit in the corner holding my breath until i get it!

and that's pretty much it in a nutshell, isn't it?

now, i suppose, hypothetically speaking, if i HAD to, i guess, under duress and making no commitment..

<deep breath>

i'd take the fuzzy feeling as apposed to the aerophagia, because, in the end, that fuzzy feeling goes away as the day progresses. whereas that damned aerophagia gives me pain while i'm trying to sleep. so that's one more disruption i don't need.

now let me ask you, from your experience of being on this forum so long-would it be possible that i could just gut it out(see what i did there?) and i could get over the hump of aerophagia?

Some people report that the aerophagia monster finally stays away...others say the least little bit of venturing past the line where the pressure causes centrals never changed even after years of therapy.
RobySue is one of those long time forum members who never could get to the point where she could use the higher pressures she sometimes would need. She ended up having a to use an auto bilevel machine at an extremely tight range and just accept the compromise that some nights her AHI might be a little higher than she would really want it to be.
But you don't like bilevel...so you can't have that aerophagia fighting ammunition in your arsenal.

Let me ask you another question...are you absolutely certain that the foggy feeling won't happen if you get your AHI lower?
Are you certain that a low AHI means no foggy feeling?

I have only had really bad aerophagia twice in my 9 years of cpap use. It was much more than a big belch or a big fart...it was horribly painful and caused nausea that lasted all day. If I had a choice between that aerophagia and a higher AHI and a foggy feeling that eventually went away....I would take the foggy feeling every day of the week because I would eventually feel better during the day. The 2 times I had the aerophagia really bad I was sick from the time I woke up until I went to bed.
