Finally slept with mask. Why am I still 13 AHI?

Post by NanTastic » Fri Oct 05, 2018 7:02 am

I got my Dreamstation last Friday but last night was the first time I actually slept for approximately 6 hours I was awake when it ramped to 8 but was still able to go to sleep - I took a Zzzquil before bed. Why is my AHI still 13.8? So confused! How do I an attachment?

Most likely your pressure is too low.

nan! good job getting your first post up.

follow the directions that lsat left you. if you have any questions after reading the directions, please come back to THIS thread and post them. in fact,if you have ANY questions, please post them here.

as you can see, there are a lot of new people who come in for advice. so it's hard to keep everyone straight and who is having which problem. if you keep it all here, the experts will be better able to keep track of you and how you are progressing.

once you show them the sleepyhead charts, the experts will be able to help. anything else, right now, would just be guesswork.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Given that the bulk of the AHI is obstructive in nature....your pressure setting(s)..whatever they are simply are not optimal.
They are not doing a good job holding the airway open and preventing the collapse.

How much more? Have no idea because we don't have any details available to maybe come up with an idea.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I will read through that encyclopedia and try to figure out how to download SLEEPYHEAD. My cellphone is already pretty full but we shall see! Another revelation after googling was that the Flonase I was using to help with nasal stuffiness can cause insomnia and anxiety so that $30 bottle just got TRASHED. 😫.

My settings are 8 with a 45 minute ramp of 4. I don’t put much faith in the results from my sleep lab test because I slept VERY little. They advised my cardiologist that after the titration test 8 was my optimum setting. I MIGHT have slept for TWO hours all night.

If the machine showing in your profile is correct, I don't know that there is detail available that will help.

I’m on my desktop now looking at Sleepyhead but I’m not sure I want that much personal information out there! I’m at the point in setup to insert my SD card but I’m terrified it might try to write data to my card and cause problems with my machine? Is this RISKY? I’m not an expert in technology by any means!

The machine didn’t come in a box - but the invoice shows Dreamstation CPAP E0601

If your worried slide the little switch on the SD card to the Lock and then your computer cannot write to the card but you have nothing to worry about putting it in your computer

We need to find out what exact machine you have. The model name should be on the machine itself, whether on a sticker in the back or on the bottom, or as part of a logo on the front or top of the machine. If you have an Auto CPAP, you would be able to set up a pressure range. We'd need to see your data first, but if you're adverse to high pressure, it's possible you don't need said higher pressure the entire night - which is the benefit of a range.

E0601 is the billing code and not the model number.
Look on the bottom of the blower for a little sticker that starts with DSX and then has 3 digits with some letters or numbers at the end of the 3 digits.
Is it DSX200xxx
or DSX400xxx
or DSX500xxx

The DSX200xxx model doesn't collect any useful detailed data and not worth messing with SH for it. In fact SH might even not give you even the AHI.

As far as personal information...none shows up on the reports unless you want to use your real name as the user profile.
Some people do but I just use my forum ID "Pugsy" on mine and that's the extent of anything anyone can see when I post it here.
All that other stuff when you create a user profile...none of it is even needed. All I did was give it a name and choose the time zone and country and that is the extent of any information I put in the profile. None of that other stuff is needed for SH to do any calculations.

There's no personal information.

Create a profile, put your nickname here in it, and leave everything else blank.

e601 is a billing code, not a model.

Look on the bottom of the machine, at the label.
