I just received the aura and have only tried it for a short lay on the bed.

First observations:

It's lighter than I anticipated (that's good)

It's very adjustable in all directions (that's good)

The headgear definately has the baseball cap feel (as Ted suggested)

It seems very well made.

It comes with the medium and large nasal seals. The large did not leak for me but looks smaller than I'm used to using with the Swift and Breeze. They may want to add an XL in addition to the small they are planning to add. (I just saw that they list an XL seal in the manual, so maybe it's on the way also)

This mask is VERY good for both back and side sleepers.

The Manual says it should not be used with APAP, but is functionaly in no way different than the Breeze, so my guess is it would be OK.

Finally (for now) the deal killer for many is that is is louder than the Swift or the Breeze. On inhalation it makes a ...shhhhh ...shhhhh ...shhhhh sound that does not bother me (or my wife) but I know will be a concern for some.

My first opinion is this is likely the interface I will now be using everyday... I see if that holds true after sleeping on it.

Waiting to hear how the Aura performed during the night. Am especially interested inthe results in the side sleep mode. I wonder if moving from right side to left side and visa versa had a negative effect on the degree or amount of leakage, since the pillows are not as large as those which you use currently. Did "side" movement loosen the interface and/or jar the pillows?

No leakage on my back or either side, including moving between them. Pressure is the 7cm minimum I have my auto set for.

Sounds like this new mask system would be something I would like! But I was sooooooooooo disappointed to find an e-mail today from cpap.com stating that they were sold out! Anyone know where else I may try to find this Aura system?

Overnight results:

-No leaks

-Very comfortable

-Worked fine with my APAP

-I experienced significant rainout (even with my heated hose). I attribute this to the fact that the pigtail hose on the aura is about a foot longer than the Swift. I'll have to look into an insulating sleeve for it. I do like the long hose though. That is something I wish the Swift had.

-The noise was more noticable (for my wife) than the Swift/Breeze/Activa but was not a problem for us.

If anybody has any questions or concerns that I have not addressed, feel free to post them and I'll see if I can give you an answer.

Interesting review, Wader. I must have ordered one about the same time you did, as my Aura is due to arrive today. I was going to wait to see what you and some others thought, but the more I thought about it being designed by a guy who was on the design team of the Breeze (my favorite), I couldn't wait.

My pressure runs a bit higher - Remstar Auto/C-flex set for range of 8-16, usually running around 8-11. I'm a toss and turn side sleeper, so will add my two cents after tonight.

Sounded like the Aura has a lot going for it. We'll see.

RG,

The aura is very much like the Breeze, only IMO better. I think you'll the the following improvements:

- More adjustability - both in&out and up&down plus the wires in the nasal seal can be bent to make fine adjustments to the pitch of the pillows

- No big plastic thing on the back of your head. Great for back sleepers and eliminates the tendancy (of the breeze) to shift on your head.

- The complete nasal seal "hoop" detatches easily for cleaning. This feature is so convienent, even I'll probably wash it everyday.

You get all the benefits of the Brezze with the benefit of the above improvements.

If the additional noise doesn't bother you, it's the best nasal pillow unit now on the market.

I guess you answered my question that I posted to the original Ted post about this interface. The noise......If its noiser than the Swift then I would not be interested. Evidently, the extra noise does not bother you guys. I am so used to the absolute silence of the "Activa" that the Swift is too noisy for me.

I am bummed. I guess I will have to wait for the next new mask to come out that will be silent.

I'm thinking of buying a Swift. Just how noisy is it compared to the other masks and, how stable is it on a side-sleeper?

I would seriously look at the aura. I love my Swift, but I think I will love the aura even more. It's got all the side sleeping freedom of the Breeze, but is more adjustable. It is just as, or more stable than the Swift. It's also cheaper than the Swift.

The Breeze is quiet, but it has one flaw: The vent.

Since I have returned to sleeping in my own bed, I've had to install a small pillow case that hangs between the pillows of my wife and I.

I occasionally like to sleep on my right side and she is to my right. She complained that it felt like a fan was blowing on her face and I kept her up.

I've seen postings to add a vent diverter, but this increases the noise level and sometimes includes a very irritating whistle.

Hugh,

The vent on the auro points straight up (when you are standing) and is above your eyes so It should only blow on the headboard. It does make a ...shhhhh noise when you inhale.
