Repairing the stretched-out end of a CPAP hose- how do you do it?

So, after about a year the rubber end of my ResMed ClimateLineAir hose has become stretched-out and loose to the point where my CPAP mask keeps slipping out of the hose.

Obviously I can just replace it with a new hose, but if I wanted to repair it what would be the best way to do it?

What kind of tape should I use and where should I apply the tape to make the grip tight again so it will hold the mask in the hose? Thanks.

I solved the problem on my hose by using my backup hose and not disconnecting my mask every day. There is not really any need to do that and it stresses the connection.

I kept the old hose as a backup because it would work if my host somehow became punctured or had other issues.

Someone on the ApneaBoard forums suggested I just put a rubber band around the rubber end of the hose (to make it more snug) and that seems so simple it just might work!

It's a simple fix. You can use a variety of things, what I'd recommend is either a rubber band, or some string, or ... stretchy tape.

If you're going to use a rubber band, just put it on the hose end then put the mask on, otherwise, attach the mask, and wrap tape or wrap some string tightly around the hose end.

The synthetic (presumably) rubber breaks down with age, just like elastic loses its bounce over time.

Maybe so... I had the floppy hose end happen on my first plain hose, I used the "tightly wrapped string" method and kept using the hose until I decided to get a longer hose.

I used to remove my mask from the hose by bending back and forth when I realized it was stretching out the hose end. Now I twist it back and forth.
