copy from airsense sd to dreamstation sd

Post by Vajrabell » Wed Sep 12, 2018 2:20 pm

Hi all,
I'm going to return my Airsense 10 and stay with my Dreamstation auto cpap. Can I copy the data on the resmed sd card to the data on the Dreamstation or will that erase the data that's on the Dreamstation or do I need to copy it onto a separate sd card. If the latter will any sd card do or would it have to be one that the Dreamstation could read? Thanks for any information.

use separate cards. the systems are entirely different. most any sd card with work with any cpap.

You can put the data from the AirSense SD card onto the SD card that you will be using in the DreamStation if you wish but you can't put that ResMed data into the Respironics machine itself.
Your DreamStation machine won't care that you have some ResMed files on the SD card.

I just did the reverse with my AirSense machine. Put some Respironics data on the SD card and stuck it in my AirSense machine and it didn't choke on it like the S9 machines used to do.
Used to be that the machines didn't like it when you had more than one machine's data on the SD card but now with the new AirSense and DreamStation models they don't care.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll just put it on another card and give it to my R.T. It's really just for her information and to demonstrate my compliance to Kaiser. As long as her machine can read it, it probably doesn't matter what it's on.
I'm really sad to give the Airsense back because I like it's design so much better than the Dreamstation. It's easier to use and read and is quieter. But it doesn't seem to like me very much. I'm sure I'd be able to adjust to it over time but as it isn't free and the Dreamstation is I think I just need to suck it up and stay with the Dreamstation.
Thanks

If you are using SleepyHead to monitor your process, it will automatically integrate the two systems seamlessly. Over time, you can move back and forth at will without concern. In your mind, would showing your sleep doc the output be welcomed or frowned upon in her evaluation of your progress? In any way, you would end up with a backup record of your process.

Every time I run Sleepyhead it tells me it has to update to a newer one so it can import the data and then tells me that I've got the latest one. For some reason it's very finicky on my machine which is just a standard Windows 10. So I will just have to give both cards to the rt.
Thanks for the input.

What version of SH do you have? it should be 1.0

SH sholdn't be asking you to update. Sounds like something else is messed up.

I've been holding on to some related information which may be of interest to those Sleepyhead users upgrading from a Resmed S9 to a Resmed Airsense 10. I've just made such a move and I worried about what changes were necessary to preserve my old data and whether I could continue to capture data from my old machine which I intend to use as a backup/travel unit. I procured a new FlashAir SD (I've been using one on the S9 for about 3 years and highly recommend its use) and placed it in the Airsense 10. After one night of CPAP use, I opened my existing copy of FlashPap and simply changed the name of FlashAir Host Name to the new card name, changed the xPAP machine name to Resmed Airsense 10, kept the Destination Folder as is and proceeded to scan the flash card and copy the data as usual. The Sleepyhead import proceeded as usual without a hitch. The new machine and its settings showed up as in the manner new settings are displayed for an existing machine, including the machine model and serial number. All the old data remains accessible, exactly as hoped.

I can't confirm the results of using the old card in the new machine. The worst that is likely to happen is that data on the SD card is overwritten, but not the data stored in Sleepyhead. In any event, if you're using an ordinary SD card (not FlashAir), they're really inexpensive. Besides, one comes with the new machine. A 32 MB FlashAir card costs $34 at Amazon which is large enough to hold a lifetime of data. Smaller cards are less expensive.
