Diagnosed 12 years ago. Odd ball case. 5'8" 175 lbs. Severe apnea. AHI 64/hour. Did CPAP but did not take. Pressure at 8. Lot of aerophagia and kept ripping off mask at night.
Migrated to oral appliance which worked well at first.
but recently I could tell it wasnt working. Tired and daytime sleepiness.
Went for another sleep study and it got worse. AHI was about 85/hour.
Became obsessed with night time O2 and heart rate. Got on CPAP and made a huge difference. Getting better sleep now and O2 levels normalized. AHI levels below 5/hour per night
Yay CPAP

welcome to the monkey house.
yay indeed. that's a very good bit of progress. if you want to get to an even lower AHI, please read here-

with the sleepyhead software, the experts here will be able to see your details and can then give you advice to help optimize your therapy.
of course, if you are happy with an AHI of 5, carry on.
whatever you do, good luck!
