For tonight when you wake up or you find you are taking a long time to go to sleep...reach over and turn the machine off and then right back on again. This will create a new session and we can use SH and turn off the sessions where there is prolonged known awake time and for the others it will at least give you an idea if you were awake or not when an event gets flagged.

Since you were "in and out" during that last 30 to 60 minutes...probably some of those flagged events aren't real.

If you had a machine that gave you flow rate you could zoom in on the flagged event and maybe figure out if you were awake or not.

I really think that getting a ResMed AutoSet with EPR would be better for you in more ways than one.
Not only would EPR probably help you out but the algorithm for responding to things is better IMHO and it responds faster and lessen the time spent at higher pressures that might make the belly issues worse.

Either the current model...AirSense 10 AutoSet or the for Her model...or it's older big brother the S9 AutoSet.
I have a low hour AirSense 10 AutoSet that I want to sell. Send me a private message if you are interested.
It's this machine.

If the setting of 6 caused problems with aerophagia then 7 is going to make it worse.

What you need is a different machine where we can add in some exhale relief to get you using a lower pressure part of the night to help reduce the aerophagia

See this
wiki/index.php/Aerophagia

You can't really get any exhale relief with this machine. Unless the aerophagia goes away on its own this machine maybe isn't a good fit for you.

Maybe try 5.5 minimum and see what happens.

A ResMed brand machine with EPR or even a bilevel machine might be needed.
is it possible that pressure being too low could cause someone to eat air as theyre trying to breathe?
and raising the minimum could prevent that?
how common is that?

I don't have any noticeable air in my gut at 4-4.5 minimum, and I didn't notice any at 5.5 the first time I tried it.

I don't remember the exact % from my sleep study, but I know I'm a mix of side/supine. I think* I start side and end up supine.

I have a Airsense 10 with EPR en route courtesy of Pugsy, the hope is the pressure relief lets me breathe more naturally on exhale and not gulp the air.

While I wait for it I think I'm just gonna lower the pressure to 4-20 again and keep acclimating to sleeping with the mask. The Aerophagia makes it quite a bit more uncomfortable so I don't really want to mess with it much until the new machine is here

I have never heard of that happening.

Now I have heard of awakenings being a factor in the worsening of aerophagia symptoms and it wouldn't be impossible for untreated apneas causing awakenings which then might cause worsening of the aerophagia...but that's a lot of "what ifs".
Most of the time it's strictly pressure related...above so and so pressure too much air sneaks into the gut and creates problems.

Quick update without a graph:

Last night was the first with the new machine, Set at a YOLO 9-20 with 3 EPR.
Initial impression- HUGE improvement over the Icon. EPR is awesome. No Aerophagia and actually comfortable to breathe.
AHI- 5.8, and unless I saw it wrong in my AM rush it had Centrals labeled at 5.6. I was way more restless than usual, so I'm sure most of it was false readings.
Will update with the graph if it looks interesting.

When I get home I'm going to pull the SH and take a look- At the moment I'm leaning towards 8 or 9-20 with 2 EPR and running for a few days to see where it falls and how my gut takes it.

Also side note: Today the wife and I are starting a new diet and begin using the gym I built in the garage (I hate public gyms). We have to get back in shape for ski season since we're holding off on kids, and hopefully I can finally have a successful rehab on my knee. The better sleep is going to make a HUGE improvement I think.

When you get a chance update your equipment in your profile to reflect the correct machine.
Right now you are showing the AirSense 10 CPAP machine probably because you didn't see the AutoSet in the AirSense grouping....that's because it got stuck down in the "Rs" because they listed it as ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet.

Sounds like you will be doing well with the AutoSet. Doesn't surprise me...I had several reasons for recommending it besides just the aerophagia issues and needing EPR to help avoid the belly issues. It's a rare person indeed who doesn't like the ResMed machines for some reason or other.

When you get a chance post that detailed report...if you have a lot of central/CA flags and a restless night in general it's very possible that those centrals are SWJ centrals and not real but instead some awake breathing irregularities confusing the machine a bit.
You may or may not even need a pressure adjustment...we can't reduce centrals with more pressure anyway.

The response to Yolo was even better than I thought hahaha.
I don't have anything funny to add :(

Unfortunately my PC doesn't have an SD card slot, so no data transfer tonight.
Ill put the settings at 9-20 2epr and see what happens and grab an adapter tomorrow.
I also rechecked the readout real quick, it shows as follows.
Pressure- 9.8
Leak- 0
AHI- 5.8
Total AI- 5.6
Central AI- 5.6

You only live once.

Was a "give it all or nothing" sort of reference.

Although I do like Oreos
