full face mask recommendation

I suspect my nasal pillows aren't providing the best therapy, I wake up with a dry mouth, I think I might have mouth leaks and I still feel tired.
can someone recommend a good full face mask? and how do you choose the size? S/M/L

Probably the most popular full face mask is the ResMed F20. No mask fits everyone, but the F20 seems to work better for more people than many others.

In the US easiest way to be fitted is at an equipment supplier's office by a respiratory therapist who's familiar with the mask and fitting guidelines. However, ResMed has a sizing guide video and a measuring gauge you can print if you are ordering online.

The F20 has options for a silicone sealed cushion and a memory foam seal cushion. The silicone is washable and, I think, is the most popular, but some people like the foam cushion better.

There are many other full face masks, and you may have to try more than one to find one that works well for you.

I was going to say the airfit f20 also. I just got started on my therapy and had such a terrible congestion issue after the first day with a nasal cushion that I went to a local place looking to try a full face mask and came away with an airfit f20 and used it last night for the first time and it was great.

you might try a mouthpiece or taping your mouth shut as an option for keeping your mouth shut/moist. just a cheaper "worth a shot" sort of suggestion if you're not completely in love with the idea of getting a full mask.

User recommendations are pretty useless. What fits me likely won't fit you. Get a mask supplier to try several on you. That's their job.

i don't know if Scunci is available in UK. but you can certainly google it to find out. i wholeheartedly recommend this method. my AHI dropped a whole point using the hairbands.

also, as to the dry mouth, have you tried any of the saliva producing oral mouth rinses or lozenges? i use Xylimelts lozenges and they keep my mouth moist throughout the night.

I agree that the above mentioned ResMed F20, Philips Respironics Dreamwear and Fisher & Paykel Simplus are the top full face masks. I am having very good luck with the DreamWear FFM, using a RemZzzs Liner, with it.

The Resmed AirTouch F20 with memory foam is my top choice followed VERY VERY CLOSELY by the Philips Respironics DreamWear Full Face. Both are GREAT masks. You won’t go wrong either way.

When I use a FFM, I use a Simplus in large for what it's worth,.....not much!

Don't forget the hybrid-style FFMs: pillows and something that covers the mouth.

thanks for the recommendations. yes unfortunately I can't go to a technician and have them fit me with different masks. we have a national health service in the UK which is great but we bsaically get whatever mask they currently have in stock. mostly nasal pillows. they gave me a medium dreamwear mask which is the new one with the tube at the top of the head but it doesn't feel great.
I can go back and ask if they havre a full face mask but I'm not sure what I'll get.
the area where I live, they only give set pressure machines as well, they even said they might get the new models but would only get the set pressure ones...and even so, they only replace the machines once they die.
I'm considering taking out a loan for a new APAP machine.
My AHI is pretty normal, I think maybe sleepyhead isn't detecting that the therapy isn't effective somehow. I woke up with a sore throat which is a a pretty common occurence for me, and also in the early hours of the morning, I keep waking up and having to fiddle with the nasal pillows because of the leak/hissing noise.

I definitely won't do the mouth taping thing, sorry too weird!

IMHO not so great. The conditions you mention make the successful treatment of OSA difficult at best. Please buy it outside NHS if you have the funds available and are permitted to do so. Good luck.
