can switching to mask from pillows reduce apnea ?

Post by steviekm3 » Sat Aug 25, 2018 9:49 am

Hi,

I’m getting 10 apnea events per hour. The pressure is 16. These are about the same number of events I was getting without using cpap during the study. So it seems the machine does nothing to improve.

I have no leaks detected. Does anybody think switching to hybrid mask would help ? I’m thinking maybe apnea is being cause by me trying to breath through mouth but lips are closed so I can’t. I’m thinking hybrid would open lips so I get air.

welcome to the forum.

please read here-

the experts here need to know more information before they can begin to help. while we are all on the same journey, we may as individuals need individual advice.

without knowing more, the experts would just be guessing.

good luck!

It's probably not adjusted right. Do what Zonker said... read the "READ BEFORE POSTING" page.

Many experts here but I’ll give you my personal experience. It helped me and I am still new. Felt the same way about the mask.

My suggestion would be try it at least and see if it helps.

It is not unusual that changing a mask can alter you AHI either way.

Also if you're at 16 and you were at 16 without a mask are they central or Obstructive? If your with mask events are central it could be your pressure is too high. but yes, post the actual information for the experts and they'll probably be able to tell you something much more accurate.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"
