still no sleep
Re: still no sleep
Most of your events are "Clear Airway" events. This suggests that you might have Central Sleep Apnea! You should see a sleep doctor who is a neurologist.
Re: still no sleep
Your clear airway events might just be restlessness, sleeplessness. Were clear airway events showing up in your sleep study???
If your turbinates are swelling and you are having trouble breathing through your nose as a result, that could explain the sleep issues. A full face mask will allow you to breathe through your mouth if you have to, and might help you get better rest.
Mouth breathing in a FF mask WILL dry your mouth out, so be sure to hydrate well.

Re: still no sleep
Hi again nayan6842:
It's good that you sleep with your mouth closed and yes, if you are used to sleeping with your mouth closed, it would be very hard to suddenly change and start sleeping with it open. It's nice to know that we don't have to.
For some OSA patients who sleep with their mouth closed and are having a hard time finding a suitable mask, the hybrid masks can be a Godsend. The hybrid masks combine full face CPAP with another mode such as nasal pillows. If you are interested, you might check out the InnoMed RespCare, Full Face CPAP Mask with nasal pillows. You will likely find pictures of them at any of the CPAP vendors online.
Most of us have several tries before we find a mask that fits, doesn't leak much and we're comfortable with. Keep trying. The right mask for you is out there.

Re: still no sleep
You might try the Breathe Right strips for some relief before your Dr. visit. You can find them most anywhere that sell meds. Pretty much helps anytime for nasal congestion by helping to keep the nostrils open wider.
Just sayin, in desperation I would give them a try, I always keep some around with my other over the counter meds.

Re: still no sleep
Considering the very short sleep times and waking up a lot, there could be a lot of sleep/wake/jump. Kinda hard to tell right now.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Re: still no sleep
Your clear airways events are clustered at the beginning of the night and the end of the night. That is a strong indication of common irregular breathing (SWJ) while you are awake. It would seem you are having more trouble sleeping than breathing while asleep. How is your sleep hygiene, diet and exercise? Have you given up Nestea and all other sources of caffeine including chocolate?ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 5:17 pmWhy do you say it is not working? Here, you posted some good results - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=172434&p=1261442#p1261442
I bet you are sleeping more hours than you think. How is your sleep hygiene, diet and exercise? Have you given up Nestea and all other sources of caffeine including chocolate?
That's a good thing to do.

Re: still no sleep
It's not because it is a Coke product. It's because tea leaves naturally contain caffeine.
That's good that your job is not sedentary. As for additional exercise, pick something that you like and that is convenient. A 30-minute brisk walk is excellent. Finish at least three hours before bedtime.
Be careful what you replace those fast foods with. Vegetables, fruit, lean meats and eggs are good choices.
The Nestea could be a big part of your problem depending on how much you were drinking and at what time.
I hope to hear that your sleep is improving soon.
Ciao.

Re: still no sleep
I am new to this site and was going to ask a question but now I'm kinda leary!
Reference your lack of sleep! Something is wrong and your doctor should listen to you and correct the situation! I have a resmed Auto 10 and really like it!! A few minor adjustments and I've corrected those issues, like dry nose, slight cough, etc; I wear a nose mask because I don’t like my mouth covered! I was a mouth breather and it was easy to learn to keep my mouth shut!! I don’t snore or wake up with a headache anymore! The only thing I am concerned about is that sometimes when I get up I feel like I have to keep taking a deep breath because I feel shortness of breath but it’s not bad and doesn’t always happen!
Well, good luck! Hang in there and call your doc!!
