Wrinkles?

Post by Chris8243 » Sun Aug 19, 2018 12:15 pm

Do CPAP masks cause more wrinkles? I use Amara View mask (covers the mouth) and I am noticing more and more wrinkles around my mouth and under my eyes.
Yes, I am aging, but *only* 60, and I am wondering if anyone else has noticed more wrinkles since starting CPAP? I've been using it for 10 months.

They probably help prevent wrinkles by oxygenating the tissues near the surface of the skin.

Here are the major causes of wrinkles:
Sun damage, smoking, dehydration, some medications, and environmental and genetic factors and thinning of the skin with age.
Another major factor is breakdown of the capillaries near the surface of the skin. These capillaries, through which blood no longer flows, are called ghost vessels. Exercise is the way to prevent and even reverse ghost vessels. The best exercise for this is exercise of the legs particularly the calf muscles. Walking uphill, skipping and heel raises are excellent for building calf muscles. I like to do standing heel raises. But, research shows heel raises while you are seated at your desk or in front of the telly also helps prevent wrinkles.

My foremothers left me some good skin and hair genes.
Not too crazy about the "mom" jeans, though.

*EVERYBODY* gets more wrinkles after they start using cpap, because *THEY GET OLDER*.

Now, some people don't get more wrinkles if they don't use cpap... because they die prematurely.

I really don't remember, but I understand why you ask. She definitely had some so that is a factor.

I was totally expecting "would you rather have wrinkles or be dead." Yeah, there's that.

The point is, you're getting older, and that comes with wrinkles, or plastic surgery.

The "but, I didn't have this years ago before cpap" refrain is something repeated over and over... nobody thinks "well, shit, I've never been this old before, have I?"

Repetitive pressure can contribute to wrinkling. If I used a mask instead of nasal pillows I'd want a soft liner. I sleep mostly on my right side with my face resting on my hand. The way my plump cheek is pushed forward in this position has resulted in the wrinkles from my mouth to my chin being significantly more pronounced on the right. In recent times I've been more aware and trying to keep this area moisturized and it has helped the appearance, depth, and texture of the wrinkles. FYI I am in love with an inexpensive product called Gene's Vitamin E Creme Swiss Collagen Complex available I think at Sam's and maybe Walmart. In the 3 months I was staying at my brother's and using his wife's supplies I saw a marked difference. Maybe any moisturizer would do the same, can't say because I've never been one to use moisturizers as I have always had oily skin. With the hormone changes of aging, I'm finding moisturizing needed.

I am addicted to Sally Beauty Supply's Moist Hemp body lotion.
Maybe "addicted" was a bad choice of words . . .

Do you moisturize every time you come out of the water? Sorry, couldn't resist another frog reference. Thanks for the tip. Been looking for a body lotion I could say I love.

Hmmm, I noticed my mom was developing wrinkles in her 60s.

I like Regenerist Microsculpting, Hempz Age Defying Herbal Body Moisturizer, Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Facial Moisturizers. Badger cocoa-butter-based lip balms for lips and cuticles.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM
Never, never, never, never say never.

My sister in law found the moist hemp works better than most prescription psoriasis lotions.
I only use something on my arms and legs--the only places that get dry.
