ComfortLite2 Ajustment

Post by Andre56 » Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:21 am

Is this normal I have to reajust it every night.

When I come to bed, I adjust it (5 minutes), and I have to reajust it after 3 or 4 hours of sleeping.

This night, at 3:30 I finally dropped it.

Which part are you adjusting? The headgear or the nose piece?

What interface do you use the nasal pillows, the simple cushion or the direct seal. I use the nasal pillows & once I found the right adjustment which took about 5 min. I haven't had any problems, except when I accidently lose the adjustment then it takes me a few min. to find the right adjustment Let us know what interface you use & what is exactly is the problem leaks or whatever it is. Iam sure someone can help you.

I assume you are using:
1) Nasal Pillows?
2) Direct Seal?
3) Simple Seal?

????

What do you adjust?:
1) Headgear.
2) Downtube adjuster tighter
3) Downtube adjuster looser
4) Centering (left/Right.
5) Downtube adjuster out.
6) Downtube adjuster in.

More information needed.

I'm using Nasal pillows, I 'm using the medium size.

First I found it difficult to always place the headgear at the same place. I was thinking to add a strap from the back of the headgear.

When I have leaks, I first try to adjust the centering (folding the metal piece) and the angle of the pillows to rise the pillows up or down. I sometimes adjust the downtube when I want to eliminate minor leaks. I rarely touch the angle of the downtube.

Last night, the pillows were uncomfortables, too tight. The pillows were forced in my nostrils.

What type of adjustment can be done on the Headgear ?
- changing the strap locations...
- what else ?

What do you mean by Centering (left/Right) ?

Andre,
I have found the best "trick" to use on the pillows is to install 2 garbage bag tyes. This will stabilize the pillows and allow you to adjust the angle.

Like this:

or this, if you want bring the two ports closer together;

Best of luck..

..and another thought: Do the pillows go inside the nares so far that the 'ring" on the of the pillows is doing the sealing on the outside of your nares?
If so, try the large size pillows. The pillows should seal inside the nares, not outside.

In fact, I was adjusting the pillows so they would not go completely inside the nares. I thought they had to stay a bit outside. I thought the Direct seals were made to go inside the nares and the pillows were made to extend in order to seal the nares.

I was trying to adjust the ring parallel to the nares without touching them.

I will try the large one tonight,

Thanks

Andre,
The garbage bag tyes will allow you the adjust the nasal pillow assembly, so that the "ring" is parallel with the outside of your nares.

Andre.....Oldgearhead's "garbage can tie fix" is a wonderfully simple way to solve a design problem of the CL-2. His fix is a permanent part of my system...plus I use lanolin (for breastfeeding moms) on my nares every night.

Also, I rigged a swinging arm (hanging plant support) above my head (attached to the headboard) so that the hose is routed down from above.
That way, I can move around....sleep on either side...or on my back....and the hose isn't too much of a problem.

I'm using the simple pillows....small....squeezed together slightly by the metal under-support......and the garbage tie fix that changes the (front to back) angle of the pillows so that they exactly fit the angle of my nares.

Keep tinkering....you'll finally get it adjusted "just right"....You can do it!

"Ring" should be outside, but not touching the nares.

I do all that, plus "the pantyhose trick." It's worth it. It's very comfortable and leak free.

As far as the CL2 is concerned, its usually used to help seal the Simple Cushion. Basically its an aux strap made from panty hose or, stretch tights, that is looped around the mask and tied at the back of the head. This strap can be used with about any mask to inhance the sealing.

Maybe someone will post a photo for you.
