Dry eyes?

Post by CPAPSteve » Sat Aug 11, 2018 5:54 pm

Not sure if some mask leakage is causing this but I am noticing my eyes are really dry. I don’t feel like the mask is leaking into my eyes and most leaks are around my cheek area and not so much my nose bridge. Do any other FFM users experience similar issues?

I am currently vacationing in a fairly humid climate so I know it isn’t the air.

My eyes are known to not always fully close sometimes when I sleep but dry eyes has not been an issue up until just two days ago - coincidentally since I started noticing some minor mask leaks too.

They're Cpap compatible... and can actually be bought from other companies as well... that's just a Google hit.

Do you use a humidifier? Allergies can have effect folks eyes. I'm thinking that if the air you are breathing (via cpap machine) is dry (I know you said the air is humid), but it may be drying out your eyes. Crank up the humidifier... see if that helps. Since you are vacationing, it may be a temporary thing. I would get some eye drops and see if the condition exists when you get home. Have fun.

Dang, reminds me.... I need a vacation.....

It may be the air conditioning.

I figured out what was causing my dry eyes. It is thebairbexhaist port on my Airtouch 20. I have the newer silent elbow design and the air coming out of it super quiet and subtle - so much so that I didn’t notice where the air was flowing from until this morning when I felt a continuous flow of air over my upper face that I thought was a leak. Turns out it isn’t a mask leak but the elbow simply venting the mask.

Eyebshields cover? That’s a great idea but YIKES that is another item strapped to my head.

I’ll see if I can do anything to redirect the exiting air elsewhere other than towards my eyes.

I have had dry eye ever since using my CPAP FFM. It leaks a little, shooting into my eyes. My optometrist recommended buying eye drops for it

Actually, I have my doubts this would work with a FFM for some people, despite the manufacturer's claims. It looks the mask would interfere right around the upper sides of the nose right below the bridge. Why don't they show a pic with it while the user is wearing a FFM?

Yeah I wondered about that. Has anyone here had experience with these CPAP goggles and a FFM? How does it fit and how comfortable is it?

For me, they were impossible. Even with an Innomed Hybrid mask.

Julie recommends things she has never tried nor thought through.
