thinking of a new resmed machine, thoughts please?

Post by zonker » Tue Jul 31, 2018 11:14 am

looking to buy a new machine as mine is starting to get noisy and, as stated on another thread, can't turn my heated hose back on. also, the heat icon flashes amber on start up, then switches to blue and remains there.

it's a PR System One Remstar. what i'd like to do is buy a new resmed to replace it.

anyone have a recommendation, please?

thanks in advance!

Through midnight tonight our host CPAP.com has the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset (as well as the For Her model) on sale for 20% off. Use coupon code PERFECT20.

They're good folks.

That sounds like a good deal. ResMed controls minimum advertised pricing (a form of price fixing that is legal) so sales through official suppliers like cpap.com can be hard to find. And the ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset is pretty much the go to APAP in this and other forums. It is fully data capable, relatively small, built-in humidifier, has an integrated heated hose option, and seems to have better reliability than the current Philips Respironics Dreamstation PAP machines. The "for her" version does everything the regular one does and has an extra APAP mode that is supposed to work better for apnea in women - so no downside to buying that one other than the color :-)

Be careful. All the ResMed machines look and sound a lot alike. Only the Airsense 10 **Autoset** version has the full set of features.

(I'm biased, though, having decided on an A10 for myself...)

The APAP response is a bit different in the ResMeds vs. the Philips, though. So I'm not sure if switching machines would affect your treatment or comfort. It's not something I know much about.

Edit: I should have looked at the OP's post count before pontificating :-)

thanks for the info. of course you are biased, it's your machine!

i've read on this forum multiple times that the resmed has a quicker response time vs philips. i think that is what has intrigued me.

so far, have a heads up for the sale and now a recommendation.

can anyone else affirm the a10?

I just checked again and either I was mistaken to start with or the 20% sale is off. Most likely the former.

Sorry about that, but I could have sworn I saw it listed as such.

Sorry to be flaky, but evidently I was wrong about being wrong. It IS on the sale list. Seems they have two different 20% promotions going right now, so be sure to use PERFECT20.

ResMed AS10 Line
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
AirSense 10 CPAP
AirSense 10 Elite

I wouldn't settle for anything less than one of the first two.

Yes, that's it.

It doesn't show a sale price on the item but it is listed in the 20% off items when I follow the link directly from my email.

Here you go:

https://www.cpap.com/newlisting/summer- ... 70t8z2du3e

It's about 1/3 down the page from the top.

Just because there is no downside unless you do not like the color, you could get the "For Her" version for the same price.
It has an extra mode if you need it. If you do not, it costs nothing extra.

The regular Airsense 10 Autoset has had a firmware update for some time now that emulates the "for her" extra mode you are referring to. It is a "soft" response that is within the settings. There really is no reason to get the "for her" model now unless you like the coloration.
**Edit by original author of this post, this is incorrect information. Read on to find out the differences between the two. Particularly read palerider's post to find out the differences.**
