Service/Repair Manual
Service/Repair Manual
So I have one machine and figured I should start getting prepared in case it stops working. It's a PR System One 60 Series REMstar Auto with A-flex. Model 560P to be precise.
I see this place has clinician manuals:
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual
Anyone know a good place to get service/repair manuals?
At some point I think I'm going to get a Resmed since I hear they are a little better machine. I'll save the PR for back up and camping. From what I've read over the years it sounds like the S9 is the best of the Resmed line up. Sound right?

Re: Service/Repair Manual
The S9 is a great machine but has been replaced by the Airsense 10 Autoset (S10)

Re: Service/Repair Manual
I read that S9 & S10 are basically the same machine in a different package. Also the Capn was saying the S9 blower is more efficient and uses less power if you use batteries. Maybe I misinterpreted this stuff when I read it.

Re: Service/Repair Manual
Blower & Machine hours on my PR are 11286.6 over a period of 4 years so I figured need to get a plan together before something happens. Plus I take this machine camping in some pretty humid and cold conditions at times.

Re: Service/Repair Manual
There were some minor changes with the AirSense machines over the S9 models but essentially the basic guts of how the ResMed's algorithm works didn't change except they added the 3rd mode in the for Her AutoSet so it has something the S9 doesn't. Probably not a deal maker or breaker for you not to have that special apap mode available.
The S9 AutoSet will most likely do everything you want and you might find a really good deal on it.
Sorry I can't confirm the power usage potentially being higher on the AirSense 10...I have no experience using batteries at all.

Re: Service/Repair Manual
Full disclosure: I've never used or measured any ResMed pump. All I have to go on is the ResMed Battery Guide and some anecdotal comments.
https://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents ... lo_eng.pdf
If you go to the top of page 19 you'll find the S9 with no humidity listed at pressure 10 with a load of 0.55 amps, which is consistent with the anecdotal reports of about 4-5 amp-hours a night. On page 21 you'll find the basic Airstart 10 with a similar 0.53 amps. However, page 22 the Airsense 10 (in its various versions) is up at 0.93 amps at pressure 10. At other pressures this is about 0.4 amps higher than the previous version, so its like there's some added overhead that's costing extra power. Since I don't have the unit I can't begin to think what is using the extra power, but it seems like there's a 3.2 amp-hour per night overhead to the new units.

Re: Service/Repair Manual
I also have a 560p, about 4 years old, about 10,000 hours, and just bought an exact replacement from directhomemedical.com for a good price, but I had to exchange once under warranty because of noise. I am thinking about refurbishing the old one. They are easy to disassemble, and seal and blower parts are available if you search the internet. There is an internal battery that could stand to be replaced too. It may cost enough for parts that it's worth just buying a new one, but I like keeping stuff running. You shouldnt really need a manual, but it might be good to figure out a way to test the pressure when you are done. I don't know if sensors are available or replaceable.

Re: Service/Repair Manual
Thanks everyone for the advise. Will dig a little deeper on the power consumption for the S10 out of curiosity. If I don't take it camping I guess the power consumption doesn't really matter. I can use my PR for now.
I'm the kind of person that fixes everything and uses it for many years. Still would like to find a service manual for the 560P if anyone knows where to get one or if they are even available.

Re: Service/Repair Manual
Actually I just figured it out. Service manuals at the same place as the clinician manuals. Have to be a member though. A registered account for everything these days, so annoying.
