Tape, collar, or chin strap

Post by Mouchet » Wed Jul 25, 2018 10:34 am

I know that I am posting Alot this is a completely different matter.

Last night I used a chinstrap but it hurt my neck too much today . The thing is my apnias were lower than they’ve ever been

What chinstrap would not bother my neck?
What slip collar would not bother my neck?
Does mouth taping really work and can you give me a link to a good site on it

I just ordered some mouth tape from Amazon, is that good?

it doesn't matter, all this is about *YOU* and trying to make things better.

When you scatter your thoughts and problems around like the wind, it makes it harder for other people to help you.

We've all got better things to do that dig back through all your threads to see what things might relate to whatever your current thought is.

Why are you making it harder to help you?

The answer is what ever works for you. I tried chin straps, but could not sleep with one on. I tried taping my mouth, but had a hard time with that. If I leave tape on too long, it blisters my skin. I finally settled on a stiff foam cervical collar. Sometimes you have to find what works for you though trial and error.

What slip collar would not bother my neck? Again...I have never seen your neck
Does mouth taping really work and can you give me a link to a good site on it Do you need directions to put tape on your mouth?

I just ordered some mouth tape from Amazon, is that good?.. What if we said no...you already ordered it

Mouchet, By day, I am definitely not a mouth breather but, clearly, by night I am. Let's hear it for the post-menopausal loosening of muscles (the tongue, for example). I couldn't stand the idea of a jaw strap, so have stayed with mouth tape. I use 3M tape for sensitive skin (it's a light blue-is tape). At first, I was just putting about a 2.5 inch vertical strip on each night, but then realized that it probably wasn't enough. So, now I use enough tape to extend about 1.0 inch on either side of my mouth - plus about a 1.0 inch strip from the top of the tape on my upper lip towards my nose. So far, so good. I have to make sure that I've cleaned around my mouth before putting on the tape - or it doesn't stick well... I have extremely sensitive skin, but this particular tape works well without making rashes or marks. I do put just the teeniest bit of chapstick in the middle of my lips (and ONLY in the middle of my lips and not on the skin above or below), so that my lips don't feel scraped. Good luck! Best,

I am a longtime mouth breather. I had poor results from most chinstraps, but for several years now have used the PapCap with good results. None of the straps caused me neck pain, though i got one that caused some sort of allergic irritation on my throat,
