I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add some information.
My Dad passed away last year and I assumed his two year old AS10 something-something to replace my SystemOne box that had a bearing that was going bad. I sleep much better with this device much to my DME providers chagrin (they wanted to sell me a new unit).
The original AS10 used/uses a CDMA 1x modem in the United States, whilst the rest of the world used a 2G GSM modem (GPRS/EDGE). I have not been able to ascertain if they changed the modem out in a newer revision. I do not know if the modem is subject to a `five-year performance period.'
Based on the signal quality at home, it appears that my AS10 uses Verizon, Sprint coverage at my home is nil. Verizon is pulling the plug on their 1x network 31 Dec 19. The only other CDMA 1x carrier in the US is Sprint, which has not set a firm decommissioning date for their 1x (nominal) network. Should the devices not support programming on Sprint, the modems will become non-functional after 31 Dec 19. ATT turned off their 2G network back at the end of 2017. TMobile has a small sliver of 2G service for M2M (machine to machine) communications, like ours, but the modem does not support any GSM protocols.
A link to a wireless industry rag about network decommissioning: https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless ... y-end-2019
Personally, after ResMed's recent privacy policy change, where they wanted to link your my sleep app profile to 'consumer data' to 'better understand our customers and users', I neutered my AS10.
Airsense 10 new modem?
Re: Airsense 10 new modem?
Modem? Heck I unplugged mine as soon as the machine was mine; nag screen was a PITA when in airplane mode.

Yes...I have a 2014 resmed 10 working on 2G CDMA cell band (usefull for this model) .Stop working (modem) the first of may 2019 because cdma is no more aviable since april 30 in my country. Waranty finished (3 years) . I saw no solution yet for this . I ignore my modem. Modem software may or may not have been updated. (Rev. SX556-0204)
Once a year, my sleep doc asks my DME to send them a week's worth of data.
I get what I want off the screen.
If I need more, there is the sd card--but I have not needed "more" for several years.
More curiosity than anything else.
But go right ahead--especially if doing geek stuff is your motivator.
Geeks are wonderful, fun, and relevant.
