ResScan and unable to Restart Microsoft 7..Help?

Post by MimiLou » Sun Jul 08, 2018 8:09 am

I imported both ResScan and SH and of course I like SH a lot, but there are times I want to see what ResScan offers.
When I open the ResScan App I have to enter my Microsoft username and password..which I learned how to do here...BUT every time I do this my computer shuts down afterword and I must disconnect all power and do a power drain and restart the computer....any ideas on how to prevent this..I have worked with a couple of different fixers and they have not a clue. I have NO extra/duplicate RS files, just the one app I open. If I leave my comp password protected (which I don't like to do) I have to do this power drain every single time I want to use the comp throughout the day. If I go in, set up a MS password then open RS, when I am done I have to go back into users, delete my password, restart the comp then usually have to do a powere drain and restart.
I hope I have explained enough to get help, I did do a search here but couldn't find my problem. Thanks in advance.

Did I ask a stupid question? If so, I apologize because I searched the best I could before requesting help.

nope, not a stupid question. sometimes a post gets overlooked. i don't have the answer for you. but by responding, we'll push the question upwards and maybe someone who knows the answer will come forth.....

Thanks, I thought that might be the situation...thanks for the bump.
I went ahead and deleted ResScan in total because I am sure the problems were connected...and now everything is back the way it was. I am also starting to think the DME was blocking my access because I was never able to get detail info, only summary graphs, despite trying repeatedly.

If you still have the download link that you got from healthcare worker from Apneaboard, where it says 6.0zip change that to read 5.9zip and download that and it works like a champ.

Wonderful, I will try again...this morning everything is messed up, SH kept telling me I was already open in a locked file in RED but I couldn't find it anywhere. I deleted SH and need to start over with everything. I wish that I was more computer literate...what seems to be step by step for others is not for me.

SH message about the already open file....just proceed anyway and it will work just fine. I am not sure why this happens but I see it fairly often. You don't have to do anything special if you see it again. Just proceed normally...no need to go back or reinstall anything.

For ResScan....it appears that the latest version has now incorporated some sort of password and log in requirement. PITA.
Encore Pro has been doing this for years though. I have not installed ResScan 6.0 yet to figure out any sort of easy quick work around.
For the time being...use 5.9 ResScan version...no password or log in requirements with that version and you aren't missing anything except the headaches. Most of the time the version changes have nothing to do with what the machine reports or shows in terms of therapy.
It's all version changes for upgrades or bug fixes and nothing critical changes.
You will need to uninstall version 6.0 first...then go download version 5.9 and someone already explained how to find it.
Your computer will be much happier and you won't have to deal with it and you will have less headaches...and you lose nothing in terms of the reported data.

I have searched and searched, can you lead me to a link to download the 5.9? It sounds like that would help....
Also, my comp is freezing when the above red lockfile message comes up and I cannot proceed....
Thanks in advance.

Give me a second or two and I will send you a link for 5.9.
I can't post it publicly....I promised not to do that when it was sent to me.
I will send you a Private message shortly. I gotta go find my 5.9 link.

You received the link to the 6.0 in you email? Right click on the link, and left click on something like Copy link Address. Open your browser and left click on the address line. Right click, and paste the link. At the end of the line, you'll see ...ResScan_6.0.zip. Left click after the REsScan_6.0.zip, and backspace so the end of the line says ResScan_ Type in 5.9.zip. The line should now end with the word ResScan_5.9.zip. Hit then enter key, and version 5.9 should download. I just tried it, and I downloaded version 5.9.

Pugsy will also probably send you the link itself, but if you're in a hurry, this will work.

Hope this helps!

-Bill

Yep, I sent her a complete link yesterday and the plan today is to remove/uninstall 6.0 and install 5.9 which I think has already been downloaded but not installed yet since 6.0 has to leave first.
Not sure why she didn't get the part about changing the url address but for some reason she just couldn't. It was easier and faster just to send a new complete link. She was already beyond frustrated with things which probably didn't help the situation.
SleepyHead is also not wanting to play nice for some reason.

I am still on the fence about installing 6.0. I just don't want to go to the extra work right now so I probably won't.
It won't give me anything that I can't get with 5.9 (or even older) except maybe headaches and more work. Not worth it.
Now if they change model machines where the machine itself gathers a new sort of data point that means for sure a newer version is needed then I might be willing to do the extra work. Sometimes the latest version isn't necessarily the greatest version to be using.

You guys are THE BEST!!!! I did try to change the URL (whatever that is, hahaha) but to no avail!!! The 5.9 Pugsy sent downloaded fine but my Windows 7 still shuts down after each time I access the Resscan so I dumped it again...the nice thing is I have the link so anytime I need to I can download it, do what I need to do, then delete it again. For 99.999% SH is just fine...unless I forget to put the sd card back in the machine...DUH!!!!
