Dreamwear users- Advice requested

Post by chapa.r » Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:59 am

Hi guys. I switched to the Dreamwear. Last night was the second time i worn it. What i have noticed is that the mask keeps rising up at night. This morning i noticed that the seal part of the bottom of the mask was all the way up to my bottom lip. Essentially, it sealed at my lip. I kept pushing down but it keeps rising. When i checked my machine it showed I had a good seal that night.

Anyone else has this problem? Any way to fix it?

It would help if you would indicate in the title that you are using the Dreamwear FF mask.

I have not used the FF mask, but looking at it there are two possibilities:

1) Improper fitting. If you go to the Philips Respironics website you should be able to find a fitting guide for the mask to see if it was fit correctly by the DME.

2) Perhaps your jaw is relaxing and pulling out of the mask. If that is the case a chin strap or a soft cervical collar may help.

Keep us posted.

I've had dreamwear full face for a week now and I bury my face in the pillow with it. It's still trial and error with it sliding up and down but I'm readjusting the mask or the straps themselves to get a better fit. It's much more comfortable than the Amara View that i was wearing up until this mask. But I'm registering the same quality sleep so far.

I’ve had mine now for a couple weeks... I had the same experience and had to tighten the straps more than just what gave me a good seal. Start with the top straps, and then do the bottom ones.

Also do the fitting during the day, not at night. I spent some time during the day trying out a lot of tossing and turning, opening closing my mouth wide, pushing my face into the pillow, etc and adjusted the straps until it was stable.

Thank you for the tips. I followed your suggestions and it worked. Was able to fall asleep faster. What get's me is the warm air that comes out at the begining. Oh how I wish the air could be colder.

I awoke at 4 am from a leak in the left nostril. I adjusted and went back to sleep. I was concerned that I was leaking and it would affect my therapy. In the morning the machine said i had a good seal and the resmed app said i only leaked 12 L/min . I'm starting to like this mask. Goes well with my beard. It's just a pain to clean every night considering where the clips are on the mask.

I am new at this (at least in this decade) and have tried a bunch of FFMs. The DreamWear FFM is by far the best for me. Very comfortable and hardly leaks at all. When I do notice a small leak it is easily stopped by simply touching the mask. My numbers have improved dramatically since I started using it.

For colder air just don't put any water in the humidifier.

For even colder air (though not much) put water in the humidifier... and leave it turned off.

Are you using a heated hose or the regular non heated hose?
If you are using a heated hose try turning the heat to the hose off. That's what I do in the summer...I don't change my humidity settings because my nose doesn't like less moisture but I will turn the hose air temp off or way down.

Remember ambient bedroom air temp also plays a part.

Hose air temp and humidity delivered can be 2 separate settings if a person wants it that way when using a heated hose.

If you are using a non heated hose than about all you can do is try a lower (or off) humidity setting but your nose may not like it.
If you are using a heated hose I would try simply turning it off so it won't warm the air as first experiment.

I lowered the humidity to 4 and that helped immensely.
