For those of you who do use distilled water, do you need to clean your water reservoir or is it deposit free?
Deposit free.
I love pickles but don't care for the stink of vinegar at all. It's just easier to pick up a gallon at WalMart which is the only grocery store in town now. If I used tap water I would end up spending more on vinegar than I would water.

Plus dealing with the stink.
And yeah, I know I could maybe use something else but why bother if using distilled ends up being the cheaper choice for me and I don't have to do any special mineral deposit removal and deal with odors that I don't particularly care for.
Now those people who don't have a cheap source of distilled water...different story. Or maybe they think vinegar is the world's greatest smell...

I can understand not using distilled. It's not the end of the world to not use distilled.
I have used tap water and in my case that is well water which tastes quite good because of all those lovely minerals in it but it doesn't take long for it to build up a cloudy crust of sorts on the sides and the bottom of the water chamber when I do use it. It just looks yucky and I don't like it looking that way. About a week of well water in the chamber and the plastic is a bit cloudy and starting to look yucky. Not everyone has the same level of minerals in their water though...some people might have water with minimal mineral content or they use some other sort of filter system on their water to remove some of the minerals.
If I had tap water with minimal minerals so that it didn't leave a crusty film on my water chamber..that's what I would use full time but I don't.
When I use distilled water the only "cleaning" I end up doing to the water chamber is maybe a once a month quick wash with hot soapy water. I just top the chamber off nightly otherwise. My water chamber looks as spotless as the day it was brand new every day whether I have done my monthly wash or not. I do the monthly (or thereabouts) hot soapy wash/rinse mainly for the "just in case something is wanting to grow in there" reason.
Now if I travel...which is very rare...I just use whatever water is handy and deal with any mineral build up when I get home if there is any.
Now is the presence of mineral build up a prime host for all sorts of nasty bugs to feed on and multiply? I dunno. Didn't take that chemistry class but don't particularly want to risk it...again just in case.
When I first started cpap therapy I religiously cleaned everything thoroughly every Sunday. That got old real fast. I have long since adapted my cleaning routine to suit my own personal preferences and needs. Works for me and I sleep just fine with my routine or mainly lack of routine. What someone else wants to do or not do so they can also sleep just fine...that's their personal choice.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
