Coughing since I started using CPAP 2 mos ago
I started using my machine a couple months ago and have developed a cough that sometimes feels like bronchitis. I cough most of the night and heavy in the morning. As the day goes on, it tapers off until I put the full mask on again.
I hate the machine, I am not more energetic and this cough is dragging me down even more. The only positive experience is, I don't snore anymore!
Has anyone else experienced this and does it go away?

First of all, please fill in your profile. Hopefully, your machine is data capable, and you will be able to use SleepyHead.
Also, are you using humidification? You are living in a desert, so dryness is definitely a consideration. Also, while I don't think that you have an issue with a contaminated machine, I still suggest that you follow a the cleaning schedule thoroughly; especially regarding the filter.

Thank you for the reply. No, my humidifier was off, so that probably is also why I have not been using water. I now have it turned on and my profile is now updated!!

To the OP:
It does seem that your machine is data capable. It says that you're compatible with Dream-Mapper, so I imagine that you're also compatible with SleepyHead. It is free, but I think that you need a computer, not just a phone.
You'll need an SD card if there isn't already one (it's next to the filter). You can pick up an inexpensive one.

The Machine you have pictured, the CPAP model, doesn't record a lot of data for sleepyhead to read. Let's make sure which model you have. Remove the water from the humidifier and look for the model/REF#, this will identify the specific model. You can look at this site to help. https://sleep.tnet.com/cmd
Humidity may be your problem and you can try different settings to see if you can get it dialed in for your needs. But if you continue to have a cough it could be a coincidence that it started at the same time as you started CPAP. I would see a doctor as there are other causes of chronic cough. Some medications have a cough side effect. My dry intermittent cough I attributed to allergies but it turned out to be a lung disease that is related to hypoxia and I'm sure untreated SA was a factor in it's development.

There are some prescription drugs that cause coughing. They out me on Lisinopril for apnea-induced high-blood pressure and I started coughing incessantly within a few days. The cardiologist they sent me too immediately switched me to Cozaar and that eliminated my coughing, good thing because it took me 18 months of CPAP therapy for my blood pressure to normalize.

Thank you, I do see my doctor today and I am glad you are feeling "normal" again!
