Clear Airway Apnea

Post by wallanbrewer » Fri May 11, 2018 7:43 am

I have been noticing lately that my Clear Airway apnea number are the majority of my average AHI number. Should this be of concern.
AHI numbers have leveled out anywhere from 1 to 3 which fall in the less than 5 catagory so I fell that is a good thing. But I am noticing
my Clear Airway numbers is what is raising the average night AHI. All other average nightly apnea catagories have fallen very low, less than
1 in most cases. I looks to me that much of the Clear is happeing in early morning hours after I have fallen back to sleep as the supplied screen
shot shows. So I am wondiering if it is just Sleep Awake Junk and can be ignored. But not fully understanding the numbers themselves, I am
looking for insight.

To low to be overly concerned about.
Maybe even sleep/wake junk. SWJ
Welcome to the party.

I agree - it looks like you turned the machine off and on at around 5:00 am - shortly after that is when the CA's really start showing up. Our breathing can get irregular when we are dozing and half-awake.

You might want to learn how to evaluate the flow rate so that you know for sure if it's SWJ or real.
Pay special attention to the bottom video.

Another explanation from Jason was here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xallwxPCg84
I didn't notice this post when it first appeared and had also noticed that most of my AHI was clear airway on Sleepyhead. I went looking and found the above video. 3/4's of my clear airway events showed the jump as explained in the video.
I think that a lot of newbies (like myself) don't know this and take the AHI at face value which in this case is wrong. Here is my zoomed in Sleepyhead:
