And voids the constant confusions about which 10:30 are you referring to. A best practice IMHO.Okie bipap wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 7:37 pmAs far as I know, it cannot be changed. Your machine reports time using a 24 hour clock (military time). It is easier to program the machine using a 24 hour clock than using a 12 hour clock.

You can't change the time on a dreamstation, you can't change the time on any respironics machine. You can change, however, the time zone, on a dreamstation.SnoringInOregon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 3:45 amIf the time is correct as to the current minute, I would strongly advise not fiddling with the machine to change hours for daylight saving time.
My experience is with the DreamStation, so maybe other machines are better. Last fall I fiddled with it when DST ended. Big mistake. It wound up rejecting my SD card afterward, I really don't remember the details but I had to reformat the card to get it to work again. I posted either on here or apneaboard. If you're thinking about fiddling with things for DST, just say no!
Also, from what I've seen there is a problem with how times are displayed in SleepyHead. It gets the time correct for the current day, but if you go back enough days to before we went on DST, then the displayed times for old waveforms are off by an hour. This isn't a problem as long as you understand what's happening.
Too much cognitive load would be required to understand how:
The DreamStation interacts with
timestamps on its SD card
which interact with
your computer (Mac/Windows/Linux probably different from each other)
which interact with
the actual daylight saving time changes.
Done correctly this stuff is great. But in this case it's not done correctly.
Also, my DreamStation has a wireless modem in it, so it's correct as to the second (it just may be an hour off). If your machine isn't on the exact time, you might be tempted to fiddle with it. I know I certainly would, but I'm OCD that way. So in that case ignore what I just said above about not fiddling!
I just checked on my DreamStation. You can change time by 1/2 hr increments. This is an approximation to timezones, since it doesn't work everywhere. I suppose that Philips has written off the lucrative Nepal market for its products. Or maybe they have a special version of firmware for that country?

No, you can set the *time ZONE*... not the time. It's not an "approximation" of time zones, it IS time zones. (there are time zones that are half an hour off, like Atlantic time in Canada) ... All you're doing is changing what time is displayed when you change that setting in the machine... Only being able to set the time in 30 minute increments would be silly.SnoringInOregon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 3:53 pmI just checked on my DreamStation. You can change time by 1/2 hr increments. SD card timestamps on my machine are in UTC. But what happens on machines that don't have a modem? Does the drift between the machine and actual UTC just get worse and worse every day? Or is there a way to set the time when you power up the machine?
As I said, an approximation. It wouldn't work in Nepal. That's why I specifically mentioned Nepal. Their timezone is UTC + 5:45. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal_Standard_Time
That's very unfortunate. Maybe it's their way of "forcing" the DMEs to buy machines equipped with wireless modems. Not that they care about making money on the actual sale of a modem, I bet Respironics gets lucrative monthly fees for gathering information from machines. Kaiser (my DME and also my health insurer) told me they pay Respironics a monthly fee for this.I've seen philips machines that well over an hour off.
