Lame Lazy Question

Post by parker » Wed Oct 18, 2006 9:57 am

I imagine that the answer to my my questions are in the archives somewhere but I am giving up trying to find them.

I recently got a ResMed Autoset S8 after 3 years on a Respironics CPAP.
I know some people are sceptical of the worth of APAP but I have found quite an improvement in the way I feel which I could go into if anyone were interested but that is not the reason for the note.

By checking the LCD screen whenever I wakeup, I have found that my pressures move around through the night and that has been quite useful in understanding what is going on while I am asleep.

I can also get some limited information by checking the Clinicians Menu for results. E.G. I can get weekly (not daily) values for: (Max??)Pressure
Leakage, AHI, HI,AI.

However, a number of the contributors here have a lot of information regarding their sleep sessions which I do not get.

For eg, individuals with APAP report the levels of pressure and duration through the night. I think this information would be useful.

Finally my questions:

Is this info available from the ResMed S8 -- and if so, how do I get it.

Also, I would be interested which other machines and what set ups provide this information as I bought the S8 primarily for travel and might buy another APAP machine if I could get more data.

Thanks.

If

You need the software for nightly data. I think you now have to order it from Down Under since the evil doers no longer allow sale of AutoScan to public in US market.

Search for DSM posts regarding AutoScan.

EDIT:
By nightly data, I mean the actual interval data througout the night showing fluctuations of pressure, leaks, and AHI/AI/HI events. In addition, the software does provide the max and average values in addition to just the 95% values one gets from the LED display.

Data

There is NONE better in terms of supplying instantaneous and convenient data directly on its LCD screen (without the need for card-reader, software or computer) than the ResMed S8 Elite and Vantage AutoSet. You can access data on a NIGHTLY, weekly, monthly, six-monthly and yearly basis, simple with the the press of the left and right keys. This data includes 95% pressure, leak, AHI, HI and AI.

Hope this helps.

But how do I get those data on the screen? I just got a Resmed autsoset S8 Vantage yesterday, when I go through the menu it tells me how many hours are used then a screen which says 0000/0000 then the mask type, then the software type *I guess( a number beginning with SW. How do I find out what my AHI was and what pressures were used, I don;t mind, for the time being, looking it up manually each morning.

Is it true that it cannot use the EPR (C-flex type( except in CPAP mode, and not in auto mode?

Is there a place online where there is some kind of manual which explains all these things or should I try to buy a clinicians manual on e-xxx auctions?

You cannot get the "Nightly" interval data without the software. The Daily, Weekly, Monthly, etc. may be accessed through the LED only if enabled via the Clinician Menu ... read later part of this post for more info. You can buy the manual online at ebay but I would advice buying the PDF version and stay away from the guy from Cedar, Park-TX selling the hardcopy version (not trustworthy).

I found this link which seemed helpful

Did you turn on the AutoAppear feature?
