um you just blocked the mask's "EXHAUST PORTS" a big NO NO.
Blocking off those holes severly limits how the machine can washout the CO2 you exhale. This means you are going to be rebreathing 100% your exhaled CO2.
I don't recommend ANYONE do this, it is very dangerous.

Does that gel rest on the bridge of your nose?
I'm not sure what it does, but I'll take your word for it,
even though I rarely have any leakage with my UMFF.
Looks like it would be a problem for me even if I did need the fix, because I wash my mask every day, which incidently- helps keep a real good seal.
Thanks for the clarification, though.

I wash mine everyday too. thats why I didn't take the paper backing off the heel hugger. I only stuck it in place so you could see what I was talking about when I took the parts off to show it wasn't blocking exhaust port.
even though the Ultra Mirage Full Face mask instruction cd said to wash mask once a week.
oh and I used the Ultra Mirage Full Face mask instruction cd to fit it.

I forgot to mention that I have a size small standard mask.
All I know is that for the first time since starting cpap I haven't taken the mask off because it was leaking and driving me nuts.
I only take off to go to bathroom or to get something to drink. Than I go back to sleep.
I told my husband I should have him take pictures when I am asleep on my side so you can see how much of a problem leaks where for me before I tried this and it worked. Will post them if I remember or can get him to do that for me.

I'm glad it's working for you, and I do think it's very nice of you to share your ideas on this forum. Sometimes we're all a " lil' bit" skeptical, at first...
Good luck, and continued success!
