Remstar Auto 1 Hour Delay Encore Pro
Remstar Auto 1 Hour Delay Encore Pro
Hello all...
Question...My wife just picked up her Remstar Auto (NOT the M series) because she wanted a proven product. I noticed it had version 2.5 software on it versus the 2.6 and 2.7 on my main unit and my backup unit.
We downloaded the data from last night into Encore Pro 1.6i and the first hour was blank and then it started recording.
I know in version 2.5 and 2.6 Remstar Auto software if you shut it off or just starting out the evening you lose 10 minutes of data and then it starts recording again.
Does anyone out there have the 1 hour delay in recording with version 2.5??
Thanks,
Marc

does your Auto have a blue CFlex sticker on top? I purchased my Remstar Auto w/cflex back in June 2006, it came with firmware version 2.6. I got it from cpap.com and they move a lot a machines so I doubt very much it sat on any shelf for very long.
The SmartCard is like a floppy, you format it so you can write data to it.
When you get a new machine with the SmartCard and you have the software, use the EncorePro to erase and setup the card, then you won't have a problem with missing data.
While it is true if you stop/start the machines it will leave a blank in the report, but I just went through numerous reports of past where I stopped and restarted the machine, I am guesstimating the actual time because there is no reference but 1 hour, it shows my "breaks" if any are the time it was off and that is it, if it was 40 minutes I get slightly over the 1/2hr mark.
So I don't think there is ANY set "timeframe" if you stop/start or at least I'm not seeing it in any of the dozen PDF reports I've gone through.

Check the end of the data - the "clock" on my EncorePro is an hour slow when compared to my time - so if I go to bed at 8 pm it says 7 pm, etc. That would account for your missing hour, as long as there's an "extra" hour of data at the end.

I'm curious as to where you have confirmed this information.....
I don't recall this information being posted on this forum.
I purchased my original Pro 2 in April/May of '05. Other than losing somewhere between one to two minutes per month on the internal time clock, it recorded data from the very moment of it being started.
In the early part of this year, I purchased a "previously owned" Auto which was of the same vintage and same characteristics.....internal clock losing time, but recorded data immediately after starting.
In August, I purchased another brand new Auto. This one exhibited the characteristics you described......starts for a minute or two and then stops recording data for EXACTLY 10 minutes.
I reported this and got RMAs for the Auto and Pro 2 (to get a new battery and time reset and to correct a slight noise as the C-Flex changed from inhale to exhale).
When I got both of these machines back, the Pro 2 ALSO exhibited the "missing 10 minutes" syndrome as the Auto previously did and STILL did.
So, now the only machine that begins recording data from the beginning of the night is my "previously owned" Auto.
If anybody knows anything about this "feature" (we're going to drop the first 10 minutes out of every night) please let me know.
If others have experienced this characteristic, please speak up.
Thanks,
Den

It's just settling time, Den. Do a search for "settling." The machine gives you ten minutes to fall asleep before it starts recording data, because recording data while you're awake can cause false hypops/apneas to be recorded and skew your data. HTH.

CG,
ResMad has a setting to turn on and off the "settling" on their machines, but I've never seen this mentioned with regard to the Respironics machines. AND, when would they have started doing this? The machines from 2005 didn't do this.....

And it actually "drops" the 10 minutes out of the total time?
In your Encore Pro reports, does it start recording for a minute or two at the very beginning and then leaves a blank space (10 minutes) and then starts again?
Do the "M Series" machines do this too.......Snoredog?
Why would not the Respironics techies have relayed this message to me (through CPAP.COM)?

Den,
I just went back and looked at all my reports from Encore Pro, both 1.5i and 1.6i and the first 10 minutes is not recorded. If I took a bathroom break in the middle of the night, I get 10 minutes of no data then it starts recording again. I have 2 Remstar Autos, from March of this year, software version 2.6 and from August of this year, software version 2.7.
I will try to remember where I read this but at the moment it escapes me.
Do you have a version 2.5 software machine by chance? I was wondering if the older Remstars had an hour of settling and they changed it to 10 minutes in the newer software...
Later,
Marc

Well, on mine, the "start time" is recorded at the top of the Encore Pro report for each night (which is correct) and there is a little colored "blip" at the beginning of each chart for a minute or two and then the blank spot and then the solid line when it starts recording again, but when I do the math, there's 10 minutes missing out of the total time. If I have to get up during the night, it does it again.
On a couple of occasions, it DIDN'T drop the 10 minutes (once at the beginning and once during the night.....these were on different nights).
