Airsense 10 Auto -- Auto-cycling
Airsense 10 Auto -- Auto-cycling
I am a respiratory therapist who has extensive experience with CPAP equipment, both in home care and acute care, but noticed that the past three days, I have been having difficulties with my current CPAP seemingly auto-cycling a new breath, before I completely exhale. I ruled out a leak from the mask -- opened up a new mash cushion and nasal pillows for my ResMed Liberty mask (have been using this model since 2007 when it came out on the market), and it seemed to resolve the problem, but not entirely. I ended up going into the clinical menu and turned the EPR back on and set it to level 1. The worst thing about all this, is I wake up finding the machine auto-cycling, repetively, and now that I have turned the EPR back on, I find that the pressure gives me a perception that it drops off too much at end-exhalation, and I can no longer find comfort/supportive pressure.
I am ready to return to my supplier and warranty the machine -- purchased it new, in July 2017.
I have been using an Optima Blue Top 900 CCA battery with sine wave invertor, for the past week, and this problem has only surfaced these past three days.

Re: Airsense 10 Auto -- Auto-cycling
cpap and you are using EPR. there is no trigger setting, so it has to be a sensor fault. I'd turn the EPR off, till you can get it swapped over.

Re: Airsense 10 Auto -- Auto-cycling
Too bad I'm 2 hours drive away from home. In instances like this, it makes me wonder if I should just start bringing my old machine, too, in cases of mechanical failure.
Guess I'll be contacting ResMed, on Monday...

Please post your equipment in your profile, so we can see what stuff you have. Lots of time folks (including myself) will say term "Cpap" when they use the autoset mode.

Why are you using battery to power unit? Are you using pure sine wave inverter? Have you tried using regular AC power since issues began?SKEELER wrote:I am a respiratory therapist who has extensive experience with CPAP equipment, both in home care and acute care, but noticed that the past three days, I have been having difficulties with my current CPAP seemingly auto-cycling a new breath, before I completely exhale. Resmed says that sine wave inverters are *not* needed. modified sine wave is fine with switching power supplies, like the resmeds use.USMCVet wrote:Are you using pure sine wave inverter?

It would be interesting to see what the mask pressure graph looks like.SKEELER wrote:I am a respiratory therapist who has extensive experience with CPAP equipment, both in home care and acute care, but noticed that the past three days, I have been having difficulties with my current CPAP seemingly auto-cycling a new breath, before I completely exhale. With EPR off, a properly functining machine won't change pressure *at all* no matter what phase of the breathing cycle you're in.

Re: Airsense 10 Auto -- Auto-cycling
It sounds like a sensor problem out of cal, damaged, or dirty. Since you are a RT does your company have an Resmed account to order supplies? If so go to https://onlinestore.resmed.com and sign up. You can check the warranty and generate a warranty return yourself but as you know you should let your supplier do it for their records.
