Noise disturbs spouse
Lately my wife has been complaining how noisy my CPAP machine is. Trying to understand where the noise comes from (is it mostly from the mask), and what options to I have for reducing this noise? Would appreciate any information or suggestions.
Re: Noise disturbs spouse
It's hard for us to guess what mask you are using. Normally the noise would be leaks.

Considering the vast variety of machines hand masks, I'd have to guess "Beats the hell outta me".Parkinsons wrote:Lately my wife has been complaining how noisy my CPAP machine is. Do you know if the machine is making more noise, or is it due to mask leaking? Does any of your data suggest that the machine may not be working correctly? What mask are you using and for how long?
Does your machine have an SD card?

One suggestion I have is that your wife sleep with earplugs. You can get big sample packs from earplugstore dot com. I've slept with earplugs for 25 years. Sure, she would probably rather not have to do that, but if you are getting effective therapy at night then I hope she's willing to consider it.
Re: Noise disturbs spouse
You have 3 options:
1. Buy her ear plugs
2. Sleep in another room
3. Buy an Air sense 10 that is perfectly quiet. My wife says she can't hear anything but the ear plugs are cheaper

My snoring was louder than any cpap machine I ever had.
Maybe she "misses" the sound of you suffocating . . .
Tell her you have canceled your life insurance.

Get your wife to help you figure out where the noise is coming from - mask, mask vents, mask leaks, hose leaks, vented air bouncing off the covers, machine vibrations - lots of possibilities.Parkinsons wrote:Lately my wife has been complaining how noisy my CPAP machine is. Fill out you equipment profile so we know which mask and machine you are using - https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=prof ... pment_info
Tell us what your machine settings are.
Generally, machines and masks are very quiet - just a low, gentle sound of a tiny fan.
