Pillar Implants??? what is the verdict

everyday people...only DR and Clinics......40,000 people had the procedure and no one's talking??? that's strange

Re: Pillar Implants??? what is the verdict
Once there was someone on here that had a painful experience with the implants working out.
Otherwise, only crickets--and the gentle sound of cpaps doing their job.
FDA approval may be for sale--considering some stuff that has gotten through.

What are your expectations? Pillar Implants are not marketed as a primary treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. They are marketed as a primary treatment for snoring. From their website:gogailg5 wrote: Pillar Implants??? what is the verdict
(Emphasis mine.)The Pillar® Procedure is a simple, safe and effective treatment designed to help you stop snoring. In many cases, it also helps people suffering from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Everyday people don't write reviews or blogs. But, there is plenty of material on the ineffectiveness of the Pillar Procedure for sleep apnea - https://www.google.com/search?q=reviews ... e&ie=UTF-8gogailg5 wrote:but there's nothing about it's success from

I have been on CPAP for over 10 years....I am very informed. I've seen products come and go. I've seen the CPAP improve from the size of a Telephone book to the size of the palm of your hand. Yet, through it all, sleep Studies, adj my pressure from 7 to 15 and all in-between....I have never sleeped more then 3 hour at a time. I know it's my soft palate. When the ENT looks into my mouth gaped open it's all clear. So, I am not trying to escape CPAP, I am trying to find a solution. Pillar implants appears to work...but the mystery is when and why? thank you for your input.
Re: Pillar Implants??? what is the verdict
Search pillar implants here. There have been many posts by people who had the procedure (not very recently though, perhaps it has fallen out of favor because the effectiveness is not that great). You can read about people's experiences with the surgery itself--I remember quite a few such posts. What I recall from actual people who had the procedure is that it's a somewhat painful and miserable recovery and I don't remember any glowing reports of success.

Re: Pillar Implants??? what is the verdict
I had the procedure done about 11-12 years ago. My mom had it done at the same time as well. It helped me a little at first, but ultimately I wasn't impressed. My mom had horrible snoring (wake you up through a closed door at the other end of the house loud) for as long as I could remember and it helped her immensely. I think it just depends on the pathology behind your snoring.

Now if we could just find procedures for the other dozens of Sleep Apnea symptoms, we could lesson ot maybe cure is, but after all the cuts we might have to staple your head on, somewhere.
