You can take that Germ laden $ 300, you didn't spend on useless products. and buy Vit "C", timed release, CAP's I'm getting ready to reorder today. The wife and I take 1,000 mg a day, more up to 3.000 mg a day if sick or exposed. Been doing it for 15 years, haven't turned green yet, or yellow. But my grandkid goes to public school, where too many parents do not have sick child daycare.
This means their kids "get" to go to school when they are CONTAGIOUS, but mostly asymptomatic.
Grandparents are often the first line of emergency sick kid daycare;
so our darling's contagion stops at home. And Grandma winds up in the ER with bronchitis.
Luckily, Grandma is a tough old frog! Still hopping--and pappin'.

If spending your money on Vit C works for you, especially taking 3,000mg if you are sick, that's great -- it's YOUR money and you get to spend it any way you like. Many doctors think taking Vit C is a waste of time (and money) -- especially taking 3,000mg when you have a cold or whatever. The cold lasts the same amount of time and Vit C doesn't help you feel any better. (placebo effect?) But, if it works for you, that's all that really matters... right?

Re: SoClean CPAP Cleaner: Comments?
Frankly so far I consider this a good investment. Let's face it, we are on a CPAP machine for life. I can only assume that it is effective for bacterial removal because "How can we know" unless we have our equipment tested. Personally I am happy just to have my equipment smell and feel clean. Yes, I clean my equipment but somehow a slight odor still permeates the silicone and seemingly the hose. I use aromatherapy so it helps some but the longer you use the scents the more you become desensitized to them. From day one, I was amazed that the results of using the So Clean helped me to sleep much much better. I have anxiety and am touch sensitive so anything that disturbs my comfort will cause me to experience anxiety (please God let me find the right mask eventually). Though I have sensitive skin, I don't wear makeup or have oily skin so the need to wash my equipment every night is not necessary. I wash it about once a week but with the prewash and the hose washing kit from CPAP.com makes cleaning the hose a snap. Yes, I do agree that having to pre-wash the equipment is a pain yet if you saw my 85 year old mother's mask, you would shudder because it is caked with makeup. She said to me "I am not good about cleaning my mask." no Sh-t mom. The So Clean is easy to use. I just take everything apart and put it all in the So Clean every morning when I get up or shortly thereafter. I mean "All" of it including my accessories such as cheek pads and headgear. It can be set to automatically come on at the same time every day but I have been using the manual feature so it is just a matter of pressing a button. The light is green when it is finished. I especially like that it cleans the hose and water reservoir without taking the reservoir out or removing the hose from your CPAP machine. It truly increases my comfort level.
Something to note is that the So Clean hooks up to your CPAP machine and it stays hooked up, no attaching and reattaching. I have a cheap end table I bought from a dollar store that has two tiers beside my bed. The CPAP is on top and the SO Clean is on the bottom so space is not a problem. Also it uses no water so pre-washing may be required depending on the user's needs and comfort level. It is expensive and I wish there were payment plans so that everyone could use it. One thing that prompted me to buy one was that I hadn't had a sinus problem in about a year and lo and behold I got one after using the CPAP. I saw a doctor's PSA video where she listed the "cons" of using a CPAP along with the benefits. The doctor said that colds are common with use of the CPAP so I am having faith in the manufacturers that it does what they say it does. I don't know if the So Clean is beneficial to everyone but I did want to offer the "other side of the coin" so to speak. When I find a good product, I like to pass it on.

Re: SoClean CPAP Cleaner: Comments?
Ah, I found the thread I was thinking about:
Here is an accurate review -I will add that ozone will not clean the biofilm that collects on a mask. Bacteria and viruses need a biofilm in which to survive. So, you still have to clean off the biofilm with soap and water. And that soap and water takes care of the cleaning. No $300 ozone machine needed.I agree that it's at best worthless. Just so you know mine is not just a layman's opinion, I am a microbiologist with 25 years experience with sterilization and disinfection of equipment and facilities used in the production of sterile pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately, a good friend of mine bought one without consulting me. I haven't had the heart to tell him what I've said here but I have cautioned him that he still needs to clean his reservoir, hose, mask, and cushions at intervals, since ozone does not clean, and that it will damage his headgear and possibly cushions. If this were a medical device requiring FDA approval it never would have made it to the market.
Sorry, you were scammed.

When someone suffers from OCD and germophobia,
anything that puts their mind at ease is valid therapy FOR THEM.
What is NOT OK is pushing this garbage as anything other than a PLACEBO,
which preys on the gullible, cleans out their pockets, and leaves then susceptible to INFECTION.

If this (fictional?) doctor has any brains, she will tell you colds are also common upon people that don't use CPAP. The common cold. Get it?BayColo wrote:The doctor said that colds are common with use of the CPAP
Anyway, it has been reported here many times that the number of colds declined after CPAP usage was commenced. Personally, I have fewer colds since starting to use CPAP.

Most "colds" are nothing more than ALLERGIES.
Long before cpap, I suffered "colds" several times a year;
until a doctor finally diagnosed my allergic rhinitis.
A nightly antihistamine has dropped my upper respiratory afflictions
to less than a TENTH of previously experienced.
CPAP has dropped that to nearly nothing.
I just can't resist loving my tadpoles.

In reality I was a Mechanic, I was honest, I believe Every dollar spent in preventive maintenance pays back many time over it's cost, plus saved inconvence and safety. I have never overcharged or did a repair that wasn't needed, unless the owner forced me to change something because they thought they knew more than I did. There is no need to sell unnecessary items, there is no end to things that need attention to making things operate smoother and last longer. Honest people are hard to find, and most of them are poor, but it not from not working. Jim

I take high doses of many other things, a DR. once put me on 200 units Vit "A", for a year, I dropped it later for Beta Carotene 25,000 units daily, last year dropped to every other day. (keep me from OD on "A"). I had Prairie Knuckle Warts, the worst case he had ever seen, treated by removly for twoo years, lucky I found him he had a answer High dose Vit "A", cured me in 6 months, but will have to keep taking it, it's been 63 years, if I stop, it starts back.
Funny thing I had to go to the state capital to see the new Dr, but he had been is a almost fatal car wreck a week before, another Dr took over for him, I'm sure he was the only one with the answer, my good luck. Right place, Right Time! Jim
