It is an Airsense 10 why would you note it has no backup rate, of course it doesn't, and what does this have to do with interpreting the OP question as to the type of event was highlighted? ANd why would the APAP shut down and stop pushing air - nonsensical answer?

What does the leak rate have to do with the question? Later it is asked if there was anything special about the leak rate falling to 0 but the overall leak rate is so near 0 I'd sat the leak fell to 0 at that time, probably as the OP shifted position.

What does the second part of this even mean, in any properly working APAP there is always pressure, so it would not stop and restart. Unless you are claiming that it was the autostart causing that, which totally is off for the waveform and time frame because the autostart turns off the APAP in response to a period of no back pressure flow, then restarts when it senses a breath - but it has to be off to sense the need to restart and clearly it was not off.

it means that if the machine is not timed but follows his breathing then there would be nothing during the centrals which is why the BU rate matters

The machine is an autosense 10. There is not back up rate, there is no timing. It responds to the users inhale and exhales. Period, no if, and or buts. The response is geared to keeping the set pressure. I don't think it's me who does not understand how the OP particular machine works. And for me to be convinced or understand that I am wrong, it will take a comment from one of the posters with one hell of a lot more credibility than you.

As for making a problem where there is none - well when you post incorrect gibberish it only serves to confuse future readers, I want to make things clear for them by identifying crap when it falls, from whatever source. Once again correcting your misinformation is not bulling, it is one of the reasons that forums are organized into threads. Name calling, insulting and refusing to engage in a civil manner that's bullying and you lead the charge on that one.

TASmart is correct....the AirSense 10 models don't have a backup rate...they don't need one.
And heck, some of the AirCurve 10 models don't have backup rates either...they don't need them.

I have no idea why or how mr alphabet boy brought back up rates into the discussion. His post was incomplete or unclear in that regard. Poor sentence structure and incomplete thought maybe.....I am still scratching my head over that one but then I do that a lot when I read what he writes.
Seems like it might be related to his assuming facts not in evidence again which he does a lot of.

You asked about flat line. Here's something to ponder. While wearing a nasal mask, if you inhale thru your mouth, the machine will not detect any flow and that will be represented by a flat line. At the same time, since there is no inspiratory flow detected there will be no leak detected (ResMed).
Unfortunately, I know of no way to tell for sure with our machines whether a flat line is due to mouth inspiration or apnea while wearing a nasal mask.

I hadn't thought of that before.

On the topic of leak rate, and specifically large leaks, I pulled up my previous last use which was 10/29. During that short 4.5 hour run, I had 6 large leak events ranging from 2 to 40 seconds in duration. On the report from last night it shows only one event that lasts for 2 seconds. I just recently bought a PR chin-strap from Amazon and I just used it last night for the first time. It appears that maybe it's going to do a decent job of keeping my mouth from dropping open,....I hope anyway. If not, your hair gizmo trick is next as I don't think I could sleep with a cervical collar on.

I don't snore, my mouth just drops open from relaxation I believe. I only ever really became a mouth breather when I was dealing with bad sinus issues like the infection I had in August. I now use Flonase OTC during allergy season and have far fewer problems than I used to.
