Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
Hi guys,
When Daylight Savings Time begins, or (as it's about to) ends, do I need to bother changing the time on my CPAP machine? I noticed that my machine doesn't automatically change the time on its' own which is kind of annoying.

Your XPAP gets it's time from your computer. JimPaulKTF wrote:Hi guys,

No it does not. My CPAP machine has no way of knowing I even own a computer. Where did you get that information?Goofproof wrote:Your XPAP gets it's time from your computer. JimPaulKTF wrote:Hi guys,

The clock is set manually and does not change unless I change it.

Re: Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
Up to you if you want to change the clock on the ResMed machine.
If you do just remember to do it right before bedtime and make sure you don't have any naps from noon to when you change it.
The machine doesn't like to go backwards when there is data within that reporting session.
I don't bother with the clock on my ResMed machines. It's right half the year and off by an hour the other half but the hours slept is still the same no matter what the clock says.
Respironics machines don't have a clock that is available for setting by the patient....but ResMed machines do.

Re: Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
Mine is set two hours ahead right now; next week only one hour--no need to change.
I did this when I retired, so I could sleep as late as I have a mind to.
My mind still wants to wake up at six.
---unless I am ill--and that works, too.

Most of Arizona doesn't observe DST. What's hard to understand about that?LSAT wrote:You don't even know what he means...A MESS wrote:Love the reply Uncle--good response!

Re: Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
With all of the problems that have been posted about moving the internal clocks back and forth on the ResMed machines, I'd advise against it. Just pick one and leave it.PaulKTF wrote:Hi guys,

But, the Respironics and Philips/Respironics machines are set at the factory to GMT and the software (Encore Pro) uses the Time Zone set in the computer to adjust the data for the local user's time. By using the timezone from the computer, Encore Pro also adjusts for DST switches when they happen.
Re: Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
Every country has it's own version of Daylight Saving Time, And some places are forever dicking with it, so putting that into the cpap would be an unnecessary complication.PaulKTF wrote: noticed that my machine doesn't automatically change the time on its' own which is kind of annoying.

Re: Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
I can change the time on my Philips Respironics DreamStation AutoPAP by going into "my setup" then "clock." I can only change it in 30 minute increments, and it's always 5 or 6 minutes behind the actual time, but I don't worry about that. I change it when we go on and off DST and also when I travel to another time zone. Personal preference.

Re: Do I need to change the clock for Daylight Savings Time?
That's only for the time zone. It doesn't really change the internal clock as evidence by your machine always being 5 or 6 minutes off.Bertha deBlues wrote:I can change the time on my Philips Respironics DreamStation AutoPAP by going into "my setup" then "clock." You can't really get to the internal clock to correct the time. Known issue with Respironics machines....internal clock drift.
I am not sure what function setting the time zone might do with the DreamStation machines unless it affects the reporting session cut off time where a new reporting "day" gets started which is noon GMT time.
Now with the ResMed machines we can go in and change the actual minutes as well as hour if we wanted to. We can really "set the clock" to the time if we want to and have it be 100% correct.
