Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
I am having an issue with my Respironics System one CPAP machine writing my data to the SD card. The machine does write files with the correct date but when I download the data using EncoreViewer by Respironics it says no data is available. I do get data for dates prior to Sept 6th though.
If I insert a newly formatted SD card, the machine writes the stored data to the new card, but still indicate no data available for dates after September 6th when I download it.
Has someone experienced this and could tell me what I need to do to get my sleep data on the SD card?
Since my machine can write data to the SD card, I think the interface is working, so is this something that is controlled by my prescription?
I have been losing significant weight and was hoping to get off my CPAP machine but with out the data that may not be possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

Which model PR System One machine are you using?
Which version of EncoreViewer?
Have you verified that the data is absent with another software program like SleepyHead?

Are you keeping the SD card inserted all the time or are you just inserting it to get the past data?cgooden wrote:I am having an issue with my Respironics System one CPAP machine writing my data to the SD card. Re: Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
System One machines only lose the flow rate graph if the card is not in the machine overnight.
So the absence of any data at all isn't related to the card being in or out of the machine. When you put the SD card into the machine it will write the data that it has stored in its internal memory right back onto that SD card.
I would want to verify with SleepyHead and see if SH says there's no data first.
It might be that Encore Viewer is broken.
Now you can go into the SD card and find the newest P number folder (the higher the number the newer as the oldest would be P0) and see if there are any new files being put in that folder. Newest are at the bottom of the list of files.
If there are files present from last night and Encore is saying there isn't anything...then I would suspect Encore was the problem.
If there are no new recent files then I would suspect that something within the machines ability to write to the SD card is messed up.
It can happen especially with older machines and if you are using Viewer then your machine must have some age on it because Viewer isn't compatible with the newer System One machine or with the latest DreamStation models.

The machine is a Respriconics RemStar Auto A-Flex (550P?)Pugsy wrote:No.cgooden wrote:is this something that is controlled by my prescription?

The version of Encore Viewer is 2.0.23.0, It has been working fine for me and there were no upgrades that I know of.
The file sizes are too small for the files to contain any meaningful data. I tried Sleepyhead but had problems with the software and did not like it so I went back to EncoreViewer.
For some reason I am not getting emails when someone posts a reply.

Re: Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
I leave the card inserted all the time and only remove it to download the data about every 3 months or so, or when I have a bad night sleeping. I re-insert the card after I get the data on my PC. The card was working fine up until June 7thLSAT wrote:Are you keeping the SD card inserted all the time or are you just inserting it to get the past data?cgooden wrote:I am having an issue with my Respironics System one CPAP machine writing my data to the SD card. Re: Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
I suggested using SleepyHead just to verify that the problem wasn't with Encore. Encore could be broken.
If SH also doesn't find any recent data....then we blame the machine.
Now you might try creating a new user profile in Encore and downloading to it...just as something to try.
It wouldn't be impossible for something in the machine to have started acting up and the machine not write to the SD card.
The 550 machine has some age to it so it wouldn't be impossible for something inside it to up and die or get sick.

is the card unlocked and write enabled
is the card in the xpap all the time except when you remove it to look at the data
when you put it back does it say to wait while it prepares the card to use ?
you cant get off the xpap no matter how much weight you lose
The card is unlocked, new files are written to the card but they do not contain the data. This tells me the interface is working.
You can get off CPAP if you lose weight, I know someone that has. It may depend on of your CPAP is positional or not possible.
Since losing 45 lbs I am no longer pre-diebetic, no longer hypoglycemic, reduction if BP meds, walking 2 miles a day, and feel much much better.
Still have about another 20 to 40 to go depending on where I want to stop.

Re: Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
How can you tell the interface is working correctly if there is no data available to see?
Just because you see the machine acknowledging the SD card? That doesn't mean that the correct files are going onto the SD card in the correct manner for the software...assuming the software isn't broken.

Re: Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
The puzzle is that new files are written to the SD car but the files size is very very small, so I believe the interface is working. If I insert a freshly formatted card, the files are written to the card. However with a freshly formatted card, the prescription file is not there.Pugsy wrote:I suggested using SleepyHead just to verify that the problem wasn't with Encore. Encore could be broken.

If the machine failed, I would expect there would be an error message of some kind displayed. I also would not expect that all of the data would be missing either, possible a airflow sensor, or a pressure sensor would go bad, but not everything.
I really do not want to purchase a new machine since I am losing weight to get off CPAP, and become more healthy. Lost 45 lbs already and have changed a lot of my unhealthy weighs and it is really paying off.

Re: Problem with Machine not writing sleep data to SD card
Okay....I thought you wanted ideas on trying to figure out why there is no recent data and that you wanted or needed that data.
I was just tossing out potential culprits.
It's either the machine or the software...you have already ruled out the SD card since you tried a new SD card and we know the SD card slot drive is working or you couldn't see inside the SD card to note the file size.
