Yeah, I suppose but what can we expect from a new user when long time forum members can't refrain from engaging.
Guilty as charged. (Do I sound like Frasier?)

In my mind, there's a big difference between an annoying new user and an abusive one. I ignore the annoying ones because I think it's the right thing to do. I don't think they're trying to be annoying and truth? There's more than one that is irking me. But, I'm not saying a word to them. As I said in my other post - it would serve no purpose to say anything.
And - I was a newbie once myself and I'm sure *I* annoyed a lot of people! Probably still do.
The abusive ones (one??) - yes, I have engaged and earned myself a prized place in the top of his so-called "bully" list. I'm trying really hard NOT to respond to him anymore. It's tough.

There are a few here that enjoy acting up. I am 7 weeks into Cpap and not a day goes by when someone does not attack me. I feel these people are just unhappy and maybe even miserable. Someone said it here before--don't engage them. Harder said than done. In any event, hopefully they will just go away.
Have you ever watched Seinfeld on TV? These are episodes about nothing. The same for goes for your posts....all about nothing.
When you said Seinfeld, I thought you were going to refer to the episode where Elaine's doctor marked her file "Problem Patient". This seems to fit a certain newbie or two. I don't know how some of you who post frequently tolerate it.

Little bit.
We've all been guilty, myself included and for the best reasons my little brain can think up.
My fingers are bloody stumps from biting them to keep from typing some smart ass retort that sounds so good in my head.

Smart ass?
OK, so now we all know!
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Yeah, maybe tomorrow. My gas tank is bone dry right now. I don't have the energy to swat a fly right now much less engage the brain in a war of words. I gotta hold out one more hour so I can go pick up hubby then I am going to bed. I know sometime in my life I must have felt this bad but I sure can't remember when.
Times like this is when I really want to try some wacky weed... Darn it though. I don't know a soul who uses the stuff.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

I admit that sometimes new people can irritate me. The example given DOES irritate me.
But I've chosen the path of saying nothing. My making a snarky comment will serve no useful purpose other than irritate the new person. Now we're both irritated so what did it accomplish? Two irritated people instead of one.
We're all different with different personalities. A lot of users here irritate me - not just new people. Some of the veterans irritate me! But unless they (new or veteran) are so obnoxious (those will go nameless for obvious reasons) - I say nothing because it serves no purpose other than to cause turmoil on the board.
Exactly! Totally agree with you.
If someone wants good practice ignoring people who are irritating, ridiculous, and childish, this forum is the place to be! There are whole threads now that I just skip on over when I see who started them. It's taken me a while to get to this point, though, and it's still not easy. The path of saying nothing to these types of posts is good; I wish it were traveled more.

Xxyzx... Could you please, please, PLEASE! come up with a new name to call people.
When you don't know anything about someone, calling them names that are derogatory and specific to political leaning makes you look unintelligent and renders the insult meaningless. At this point the word "libtard" means nothing it's just part of a monotonous droning noise that has to be tuned out so we can hear what is really going on.
Also I'm not "attacking you". I'm asking you to learn some new insults or at least argue intelligently. The constant libtard comebacks are making my head hurt.
If you have something to say would you please just say it. The naughty version of blowing a rassbery at someone because you don't like them or what they say is beyond old at this point.
If you want to comment on what some one says or argue with them you need to give specifics. Pretend your in debate club at school and your trying to persuade them into voting for your side. I'm going back to that post about tact.

I remember when I first started CPAP that I was anxious all the time, I was continually second guessing choices of equipment and sleep tactics,
and I had a hard time understanding what other CPAP users meant when they were talking to each other.
After I began sleeping well and learning how to take care of myself, things were not as rough, but this post is simply to advocate for patience with new users.

we are nice to new users when they listen to the answers and not keep posting the same things over and over
we are nice to new users when they dont start giving totally nonsense or irrelevant answers as if they were now experts
I wish to be on record that despite the use of the imperial we here, xxyzx does not now nor did he ever, nor shall he ever speak for me. I suspect this is true for 99.999% of all forum posters.

+1 - some of the stuff I am seeing recently is making my skin crawl.
Completely agree Madalot.
What is really interesting is that certain posters on this forum act like children trying to see who can write the most insulting post. I want to say it reminds me of junior high school behavior but I would be insulting my 13-year-old great niece who knows better than to act like that.
I am curious if you folks who enjoy demeaning others on this forum act like this in real life or you do just do it on this forum because you can? What about moderated forums? Do you try and see what you can away with or do you conform to the rules because you know if you don't, you'll get booted?
