Proposed solution

Post by BleepingBeauty » Sun Oct 15, 2017 1:35 pm

In reading a few threads over the past few days, it's become very apparent that the forum's latest troll is having a field day here. But I noticed something that prompted an interesting in my mind.

The best answer to any troll is not to feed it, but that's obviously easier said than done - especially on a forum like this, where you feel like bad information that's being espoused HAS to be countered because we're talking about people's health. But I think that, with this current troll, there may be a better way:

I've noticed that a lot of posters now have signature lines that contain warnings about this particular troll. So I propose that, instead of engaging directly with said troll when you want to correct something erroneous, simply post in the thread, "To anyone reading, please read my signature line" or something similar. Then you're not feeding the troll, but your post informs the community that the troll's info or belief is suspect. Mission accomplished, maybe?

Trolls live to get a reaction. Don't give 'em one. Your lower BP will thank you.

As does mine. Truth and factual. Logically sound.

Well, obviously someone has already deleted a post in THIS thread. I hope the person is aware that if detected by the Goodmans, (that means they would have to take the time to look for it) your spam button will be removed -- and in some cases for many months!

What has been proposed has been tried before and hasn't worked. I think it's worth another shot though. It can't get much worse than it already has.

As am I which I why I responded to PR ONLY. Quoted him and responded to HIM. Nothing more. Reasserting THE FACTS as PR stated them. Nothing more.

Alphabet boy was put on my foe list a long time ago so I don't get to see what he writes, thank heavens.

He also appears to think that he can say whatever he likes on this forum without fear of any form of legal action. In this case he is wrong.

His statements are being made to a very large audience. If he made these statements in a public venue with an audience of this size, such as a public meeting place, the laws of libel and slander would apply just the same. Not to mention verbal harrassment, threatening behaviour, etc.

Well, it doesn't matter if you make these statements face to face or online - those same laws apply. I'm sure that there are one or two of you here who have been publicly vilified by him without due cause. You've been called bad names, had your intelligence questioned and in some cases, threatened. You could, if you wished, take action either by litigation or making a complaint to the authorities. I know of a couple of FB cases where this has happened and also a member of a forum who decided that the continual harrassment by one member constituted a form of assault and soughtt recompense. All three cases were won with ease. Maybe we need to warn Alphabet boy that we are prepared to take action.

Alphabet boy
While I don't agree with the things he says or does I also don't agree with the sneaky approach of deleting posts you don't agree with. I think that is childish behavior.

If you don't like the way this forum is run I think you either need to find one that fits your style (I don't know of another where it is OK to delete posts you don't like) OR start your very own forum where you can make the rules.

I say all this at the risk that some child won't like it and delete it so know one will see it.

Is there anyone here besides me who suspects xxyzx is deleting his own posts so he can slander a few forum members who dispute his incorrect posts?

Maybe I haven't had enough coffee... but, I'm sure I saw a post on this thread saying 3000 of his posts had been deleted.

I've seen several posts and threads he started. Anyone know what's happening?

Maybe the forum sponsors FINALLY realized that he has been attacking THEIR FORUM, and also their business.

I thought so, too, at first. The first 3 pages of his posts are not accessible (gone??) but I was able to start pulling them up on page 4. Either whoever is deleting them is causing a glitch in the system OR they are being systematically deleted by those in charge.

Don't know which it is.
