This site provides some good information, and I really appreciate that many of you post from experience and research. It is very helpful.

But mixed in with the helpfullness is a huge amount of crap. The people that think this is their platform to try and be funny....so their responses are basically one liners that do nothing helpful at all. Go on facebook and entertain your friends...this really isn't the platform for your bad jokes.

Then the arguing about minor details that do not mean anything....my GOD, get over it. Quit splitting hairs and questioning every single thing. Today was an argument about terminology and one guy was ridiculously corrective, then others attacked him, then insults....get over yourselves.

I was really hoping this site was a place to see what others are going through and find tips and help on this cpap journey. But i am not going to wade through the juvenile ego crap every day.

Yes GM this is the funny forum, A few quacks here that really dont have problems but their plan is to annoy others. On the other hand, some of us do have serious problems and can use worthwhile advice. Sorry u r leaving.

I'm sorry you feel this way. Truthfully, this forum has ALWAYS had some degree of drama going on. I remember when I first found it, I watched it for two months before joining and posting. Why? To sort out the characters (sorry everyone). I had to figure out who the good guys were and who the nuts were. Once I was fairly confident I understood the cast, I began posting to get the help I needed. There was still drama, but at least I knew who I could trust and who I should disregard.

Part of the good/bad about an unmoderated forum. Good in that you get information you can't get on heavily moderated forums. Bad because of the obvious drama.

You must be new to Internet forums.
This one is mild compared to many others. However, there are also many others which are heavily moderated and will pull your account/membership if you dare to say the wrong thing (you won't know until you cross the line) and you won't be allowed to post links to other helpful sites.
But, if you REALLY need help, go searching through the archives using the "Search" function (above). Almost every question has been answered many, many times before.
To each his own. Some people are too thin-skinned to take any constructive criticism, but are often first in line to bash people and situations that they don't understand or are outside of their realm of comprehension.

However, I've also gotten to the point where I do not need to "entertain" myself with other peoples nonsense. I think the idea of this forum is great, and I will search when needed. But just like reading peoples feeds on facebook or other social media platforms, there are just better uses of my time and effort.

So the site comes off much better than a junior high school detention class. I'm not bashing individuals at all, just saying overall...that's how the forum comes across. My single post regarding a new user generated several helpful replies (maybe 4?) and close to twice that in stupidity.

But just like reading peoples feeds on facebook or other social media platforms, there are just better uses of my time and effort.

You don't have to leave to get the information you seek. As I said, there's a wealth of information in the last 13 years of posts in the archives (and some humor, too). Yes, there are some jerks and idiots which inhabit the forum (seems like more in the last several years), but just sort through what you're looking for and try to ignore the bad stuff.

I agree with GM. There are a lot of childish things going on in here and some times it is hard to sort through the BS. Are certain people in here that bored with life that they have to disrupt others who are trying to help people?
As cpap is so new to me, I will stick around and wade through it all. I can learn to ignore what/who I don't like.

Unfortunately, there appears to be an attack on this forum itself. Several months ago, we had spam bots attacking the forum. That was stopped, and now we have a few new members who are causing a lot of problems on the list. One new member has posted over 3000 posts in just a few months. I've been here over 5 years, thought I was talkative, yet he has passed my by with the number of posts.

There have also been a few mistake posts which show that this person is using more than one alias and is quite capable of posting normally. This is a deliberate attack of the forum. I realize that the Goodmans are concerned that removing a person for incorrect information would set them up as responsible for all information in posts, but I see a different option. Remove the users for attacking the forum.

Perhaps what we really need is to expose the true identities of the people attacking the forum. Somebody with the right skills could do this, and once they are exposed, they wouldn't be able to do it anymore. And it proven to be a true attack on cpap.com, the Goodmans could sue them.

I don't think it's an "attack" on the forum. I think it's the work of one person who's found a platform for what he believes is his truth. Can't sue for that...

When that begins to fail, then we will see others come on board in an adversarial role to keep the feeding frenzy from dying off. Sometimes their role playing is borderline brilliant, other times there is the slip that makes the reader say Hmmm, that phraseology sounds familiar. Yes, there's a lot of trash these days, but I don't think there's as many unique individuals in the fray as one might assume. These things ebb and flow. Hope you'll check back again and see if it might be a better season for us.

I don't know. They do make it look easy on tv, and clearly there ARE ways to do it. Many years ago, you could look at an IP address in a header and usually track it down. But IP addresses get reused now. And these web forums are different.

I believe this is a targeted attack, and it won't end until the people doing it are banned. And that means knowing who they truly are, so they can't get back in with new names. I don;t know if this is a really disgruntled customer (or employee), or a competitor, or what. But it started shortly after the spam bot attacks were stopped.

On TV, Police/Detectives do it all the time. If you know people, perhaps you could use your influence? It's obvious the owners of the site aren't going to do it.
