Lotion to help you fall asleep

Post by BleepingBeauty » Tue Oct 10, 2017 5:43 pm

Luckily, I don't often have an issue falling asleep these days. (Maybe I'm exhausted from all that winning we're doing. )

Anyway, I saw this article today and figured I'd share. The author says it works for her. YMMV, of course.

An ad, not a news item, of course.
Lavender is well-known as a mild sleep aid.
J&J even makes baby bath and lotion scented with lavender.
I would use the baby stuff before something from out in left field.

No, not an ad; an article about a product that helps the author fall asleep. Why so cranky, CF?

Here's where it can actually be purchased (for anybody else who might want to try it): http://www.lushusa.com/body/body-lotion ... 06823.html

Dozens of of lavender products around; why this one?
The "article" is a PRESS RELEASE.
Push too hard, somebody might smell spam.
The dot com on the website should have been a dead giveaway.

We use some essential oils for a good night sleep. Lavender and Cedarwood are effective for sleep support.

Well, it didn't take long to see why I haven't been here in so long... Jeezus.

If you read the *article* I posted, you'll see that the author says it's unlike any lotion she's ever used. And if you read the page where you can purchase it, you can see all of the ingredients and read the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I posted INFORMATION to potentially help people get to sleep.

Oooh, a threat? Ask me if IGAF that you might consider my post spam. Go ahead and report it.

First, you said it was an ad; now, it's a press release?

If I've learned nothing else from this presiduncy, it's to check my sources before I share anything. And I do. From Wikipedia (italics mine): "PureWow publishes national content as well as local content for New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, and the Hamptons. The company publishes content across fashion, beauty, homecare topics, technology, entertainment, books and finances.[8] PureWow articles are distributed via its website PureWow.com,[9] email, and over social media channels."

Now, kindly go pick pepper outta flyshit somewhere else.

I wish that I could say something to smooth this over, I understand both caution about spam and enthusiasm about testimonials. Doesn't have to be a conflict, though, both can co-exist as long as no one takes off on a "you're disrespecting me" thing.

We can live together, really. Without being over sensitive on either side of the coin. I hope.

Unless one or both are not sleeping well. But what are the odds of that?

It sounds lovely and I might consider trying it. All I would lose is $20.00 if it didn't work, which was stated in the second paragraph. It might be fantastically wonderful and put a lot of people to sleep. Nevertheless, it reads like an advertisement for a product.

I was initially tempted to hit my spam button--IMO, completely appropriate.
But I am wont to consider BB a rational person.
Things change, I guess.

Most ads you hear on the radio these days are made to sound like a personal experience from a person you are familiar with. Someone will always accepts it for that.

And "lifestyle websites" exist as online "free" magazines, which derive all their revenue from the companies they PIMP.
Anyone notice how slick magazines usually dedicate more pages to advertising than they do to "content"?
And how so much "content" is nothing more than scripted ad copy?
Madison Avenue has earned their sleazy reputation. They know and use every trick in the book.
So many purported articles are simple catfishing--this is an example.

Wow, BB posts a link to a product that may help someone fall asleep, stating YMMV and all hell breaks out.

I am definitely going to try it to see if it will help me more easily reduce the Temazepam I am taking for sleep. Thanks for posting this link.

Hey, BB!

Good to know you don't have trouble falling asleep these days!

Lavender can be good stuff. I brought back a bottle of lavender water from the UK some years ago, and sometimes put a little on a cotton puff which goes by the intake of my 'pap.

I appreciate your sentiments. But if anyone thinks that I, a member here since 2009, would post spam, they're deluded - especially if it's someone with almost 23K posts, who should know better, FFS.

I feel sorry for noobs.
