That is odd! I can hardly believe x-ray of shoes would do that; no idea what could have happened.

Re: TSA Precheck: CPAP can stay under cover
I traveled out of Indianapolis yesterday. Usually in Precheck, I take the CPAP out. Yesterday as I was taking it out of the rollerboard, TSA agent asked me to leave it on. He said its not required in precheck.
Others: Please post your experience. It would be nice to know that this is a new rule rather than some exceptions..

Not true!
TSA in SJU went into my checked-in luggage to inspect my CPAP. They removed the SD card and inserted to cut lock in the suitcase and did not even leave a note saying who went into my suitcase.

Nice posting to an almost year old thread, but why in the hell did you check your cpap machine in the first place? You should always carry your cpap on board as allowed under FAA rules.checked out wrote:Not true!

Hell would freeze over before I ever checked my VPap machine on my upcoming flight this month. I am so protective, this machine is going under my seat for the whole flight.

Why are you responding to a TROLL???
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Re: TSA Precheck: CPAP can stay under cover
Actually, I found this old thread helpful. A few days ago, we applied for the PreCheck program ($85. for 5 yrs). We were given it randomly once before, but I want to make sure we get Precheck every flight. Hope it makes traveling a little easier with my new equipment.

Re: TSA Precheck: CPAP can stay under cover
I travelled form Omaha to Chicago to DCA. When I flew to Omaha from DCA, no problem with the CPAP. When I flew from Omaha to DCA, problems. I was told by the TSA officer I could not fly with the CPAP. When I reminded the officer about the TSA policy, she became rude. She took my CPAP out of the bag, carried to another location out of my view, emptied the water and returned it to the case, I object and claimed she may have damaged by CPAP and may have cased me to have a medical issue, she was rude. I filed an official compliant with TSA. I am travelling to San Diego so we will see what happens.

Next time, empty the water from your CPAP machine before you carry it around. Most machines aren't designed to be transported with water in them.mhicks0923 wrote:She took my CPAP out of the bag, carried to another location out of my view, emptied the water and returned it to the case, I object and claimed she may have damaged by CPAP and may have cased me to have a medical issue, she was rude.
Just because TSA policies consider CPAP to be medical equipment, it doesn't follow that any liquid inside them must be treated as sacred "holy water" and left undisturbed.
Sorry you got your feelings hurt.
Re: TSA Precheck: CPAP can stay under cover
NEVER carry or move your CPAP with water in the humidifier....#1. It will damage the blower if any water gets inside. #2 It's illegal to carry liquids through TSA.SnoringInOregon wrote:Next time, empty the water from your CPAP machine before you carry it around. It is not Illegal to Carry liquids thru TSA. There are rules you have to follow. Distilled water can be legally carried on as medically necessary. http://www.tsa.gov

Re: TSA Precheck: CPAP can stay under cover
I frequently travel for work. My machine is big, bulky (PRS1 960 ASV), and I would love to get something small and light weight if I could. Shout out to PR and Resmed - make a portable ASV, please!
My machine goes into the travel bag that came with it, and is then placed inside my four wheel Samsonite spinner carry-on. I do have TSA pre-check and only once in >40 flights this year have I been asked to remove it - and the agent that did so was a noob.
Bottom line, there is luck of the draw but generally speaking, TSA agents see a significant number of xPAPs go through daily and know what they look like.

Exactly. I routinely carry distilled when I travel. But when people who don't travel try to give advice it gets messy and can cause confusion. The cpap doesn't need to be in the mfg's carry bag or have a medical equip tag either.Cardsfan wrote:It is not Illegal to Carry liquids thru TSA. There are rules you have to follow. On another note the security aspect is not meant to be routine and so it can and will vary as it should. IOW what is done to or for one does not mean will happen to or for you.LSAT wrote:#2 It's illegal to carry liquids through TSA.
