noise when breathing in cpap

Post by RBL » Sat Sep 16, 2017 11:27 pm

I get a faint Squeaky/whistling noise when I inhale with my cpap. It is a DeVilbiss Intellipap. It seems to be coming from the machine itself rather than the hose or mask. Otherwise the machine is very quiet. It is very disconcerting. Any ideas?

Try re-seating the humidifier.

get a resmed or philips ?
Why???????????????????? the Intellipap is an excellent machine. Does anyone else hear the noise???? if not its your breath you hear, not your machine.. if someone else can hear it, then its the machine, take it back to your supplier.
And disregard whatever triple XXX suggests.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Agreed. I have an Intellipap autoadjust, and it is not only compatible with Sleepyhead,
but I can barely able to tell the difference between its operation and my Airsense 10.
Mostly just a shade more sound, but no bulky power brick--and it will plug directly into the
"lighter" socket in the car (optional cord)--so napping in the car is easy/possible.

I have an Intellipap and it is VERY quiet. Sometimes I wake up at night and think it has turned off.

The only loud noises I have heard is when I had a mask that farted. It made all kinds of strange sounds, including squeaks.

I also had my vocal chords make sound as the air passed over them (1 time, and I might have hallucinated that). It was something between a whistle and speech. That was surreal.

This noise is new, and seems to be getting louder. It is absolutely wrecking my sleep! I am so frustrated and this forum is my last hope. Please offer suggestions and/or tips for solving this issue.

If you got it from a dealer, take it in for them to look at.

If not, acbio.com fixes machines...

We can't possibly diagnose from here...

And my IP has been great for years, no noise at all.

Very reliable machine!
Good advice to take it to dealer--or if off warranty, call acbio.
Also note that if you have recently MOVED the cpap machine,
the new location may have different acoustics.
