K-Y Jelly
K-Y Jelly
Heres one for you. Because I was getting terrible headaches from inflamed nasal membranes , I asked a professional what to do. She told me coat my nose with k-y jelly, and put the humidity on automatic. I wondered about it but decided to try it. Again a good reason for insurance so you can see these people and get the problem solved. Wala it works. Plz dont challange me. No joke! Water soluable and it does the job. How nice I have an answer.
Re: K-Y Jelly
So, a sleep/ENT specialist told you that, instead of possibly looking into your humidifier settings, or mask type, or actual medicine for inflammation(which I would still call questionable) to take K AND Y JELLY, a lubricant, place it on your nose, set your humidity on your xPAP machine to automatic and it would help you with inflamed membranes.
What? Like, no. Seriously, what?

Do shut up. The comment came from a pulmonoligist. The fact is it worked and I did not have to deal with your answer is fabulous. . Do u think I make this stuff up? Don't make comments when you dont know. Sleep apena is a serious problem. You do what you have to in order to get relief. Period!

Is that so. I think it's best you get a second opinion, of course, based on the fact that I gave no actual supporting information or facts.
In fact, I say you can do the same with jelly (not jam, cause it doesn't shake enough). This is coming straight from my colorectal physician.

Re: K-Y Jelly
I had inflamation where my nasal pillows sit, and mole skin attached to the nasal pillows helped out. Every few weeks I have to cut a new cut out of the moleskin and put fresh ones on, but it not only helped with my nose irritation (caused by either too tight or pre-identified silicone sensitivity), but it doesn't leak at all, which it did with just the nasal pillows.

Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"
Re: K-Y Jelly
Make sure you get the right kind. There is a special formula for women. Google "KY for Her".
Re: K-Y Jelly
We generally use lanishoh, its the stuff nursing mothers use on their nipples, if its safe for baby its safe for adults. We recommend only using a small amount and just put it around your nares for lubrication. And yes, others do use ky jelly, if you would have asked, you would have gotten the same answer and not have to pay for a visit to the clinic
Don't be so quick to admonish others ... just ask and ye shall receive... instead of getting hot under the collar.

Your clinician probably saw it here first.

CAUTION: avoid the "warming" formulas.

Re: K-Y Jelly
The good news Chunky is that it worked along with putting the humidfier on automatic. People here (shall remain nameless) have been challenging me on this all afternoon. Everybody has different problems. Some things work for some and not for others. As for my board certified Pulmonologist reading about k-y jelly here. Really? I dont think so.

Re: K-Y Jelly
K-Y was suggested by a forum member several YEARS AGO.
If this forum is as useless as you suggest, WHY ARE YOU HERE?

To Chunkyfrog's point...below are parts of two separate unrelated threads from back in 2005. And there are many, many others spread out over the years suggesting KY Jelly for nose irritation, inside and out, caused by dryness or irritation from nasal pillows, etc. As a disclaimer, I only posted part of each post as the rest was not relevant to this discussion (and Rested Gal's post is rather long). I also added the red highlight.

Red marks, especially one nostril: If it's not from your head pillow pushing the Breeze shell sideways against a nostril, you might want to try dabbing some Ayr gel (or even KY jelly or liquid) in your nares (nostril openings).
I'm not discounting physicians, as the ones I've had (and currently have) are great. But I have never received as much help or learned as much from any physician or DME provider on sleep issues as I have hereozij wrote:
For nighttime use, try KY Jelly during in you nostrils during the night - it helps.
Good luck, I hope you feel better soon

I have only been here a week. I have only known about my sleep things for a month. The best thing I can do is dismiss myself from ignorant people who do not really want help but just want to make trouble. Get a J-O-B

Since you didn't specify who you were directing this to, if it is to me, I have a job. I've run a successful business from my home for over 20 years.Amess wrote:I have only been here a week.
