Mike,
How should I vote. I'm going between 2 & 3 Should I say 2,5? I've found that with the Activa a setting of 3 makes the mask "bounce" at the start of exhalation. Maybe I will get used to it. Also I have been playing with the effect of C-Flex on my Snore Index.

We should just listen to our knowledable Doctors

"CFlex is a worthless marketing scam, and has not been clinically
demonstrated to have any effect", as quoted by my Sleep Doctor
who then went to tell me how many certifications he has and that we
should not question authority. I guess in the beginning of World War II,
no one questioned Hitler either....

This is a doctor who has CLEARLY never worn a CPAP machine. What he says is technically correct, there is not THERAPEUTIC benefit to CFLEX... Two patients using CPAP correctly, one with CFLEX and one without, will receive similar results.

However, the one with CFLEX is (IMO) much more likely to REMAIN compliant and GET his or her benefits than the one without. This quote could be applied to masks as well. There's no therapeutic benefit of a comfortable mask over an uncomfortable one... except that you'll USE the comfortable one.

And as to the "should not question authority" bit, doctors need to get it through their heads that they are not in positions of authority over us. They are in positions of expertise in a field. And doctor who feels that my job as a patient is to OBEY him is not my doctor very long. Damn it, man, who do you think pays your salary? YOU work for ME. I'm consulting you for your expertise, not paying you to be some sort of dominatrix. I'm not into that.

And, by the way, my impression is that most of the doctors (or experts in ANY field) who behave as though their word should be inviolate are actually NOT the experts in their fields, and subconsciously they know it, and feel threatened when someone questions them.

A true expert is confident in his or her abilities, and does not feel threatened by contrary opinion.

Not to say that a doctor shouldn't argue his or her point if the patient is CLEARLY operating on incorrect information, or doing something downright dangerous, but... You're human, doc, not a god. Get over yourself.

Liam, who does not believe there are gods walking around dressed as men. Women, maybe, but not men.
