Anyone else get the feeling that we all are part of a grad project in psych on how people react to certain personality defects/conditions?

I guess it's possible. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how anyone can behave so badly. It's mind blowing to me.

I admire your attempt to reason with xxyzx. I really do. But what you may or may not have seen is that most times (not always, but with me definitely) he starts the nastiness. I owned up to an error on my part in a thread he and I were "discussing" (using the term loosely) and I admitted that "I stand corrected." I was never rude in my initial response to him, simply stating what I believed were the facts. When I researched a little further and realized that he was more correct in his opinion, I said it. "I stand corrected."

He still called me the "l" word and proceeded to tear into me.

A lot of people have tried, over and over again, to have a civil discussion with him. It's just not possible. If you disagree with him (even if it IS a subject that doesn't have a right or wrong answer) you are an "l" - ALWAYS. And if you prove he's mistaken in his beliefs or facts, he dismisses it and cries "l" and "bullies" etc.

I compliment your efforts. And there are some people here that are kind of rude on a regular basis, but I treat them with the same type of politeness and kindness that you are trying to show to xxyzx. Those people usually respond appropriately. He does not.

I think I've been pretty fair with you xxyzx. The fact that the bullies have slowed down shows that there is some improvement. The issue is that you are offending others who arent the few that pick on you. More importantly you are offending people who are beloved and highly respected around here. Offend them and noone other than a single hard headed love mongerer (not literal, I am not a prostitute) is going to even attempt to see things from your point of view. I'm already seeing improvements and I feel like if you ignore those few and stop pissing off the beloved, your words may hold more weight and the common consensus of xxyzx is a POS may melt away. Thanks for not actually using the "l" word. I've noticed a few post where you usually would but used restraint. Its a good start!

But he didn't right? That's an improvement! It's difficult for someone who feels like they've been attacked to admit that they've done any wrong. I think the reaction to my 2nd post proves that. xxyzx obviously has some issues with pride, a lot of people do, one step at a time I say. One step at a time.
