whatrdreamsmadeof,

That is one thing I have not heard of before.

Did the pulmonologist say how the problem can be avoided?

Let us know how it went with the eye Dr.
I can do this, I will do this.

similar problems

Post by Bellcrest » Thu Oct 05, 2006 3:10 pm

I had similar problems with FF masks...and I tried a few of them.

Swollen, baggy, puffy eyes and puffy bags on my cheek bones also.

My solultion was to change to a pillow interface and tape my mouth. Works perfectly for me. Hopefully I will never again have to use FF mask.

Ellen, according to RG's link, this has been mentioned before on this forum. I agree, very scary.

And as Shirley mentioned, she had a problem with swollen, puffy eyes, etc, which improved when she switched masks.

I also have experienced the same thing when I switched masks (my beloved Aura), but I have been trying to blame it on old age. And old age has alot to do with it in my case. ....

However, since there is no way in hell that I will switch from the Aura, I've experimented. First, I switched off my cflex, which made no difference other than I like no-cflex better.

Then, recently, I've lowered my pressure to a straight cpap 6. Voila, that might be making a difference (or maybe it's wishful thinking). My eyes don't feel swollen all day. To all the nay-sayers, yes my AHIs went up a little. But, my AHIs are still under 5 for the night which is still perfectly acceptable for non-cpap wearers.

So, in my case, I think by lowering my pressure I was able to reduce some of the puffyness. Plus, my ears aren't plugged up in the morning. So, I killed two birds with one stone.

you are right i did lower the pressure from the titrated 9 to 6.2 ahi are down and the eyes look a great deal better.........also the bubbling whistle sound from the tear ducts has stopped, that was freaky when the dr, told me that's where the noise was comming from............I didn't know your tear ducts could play music and it's not something i want them to do...thanks to all for your comments.........Ellen

Have you tried the Respironics Total Face Mask? I haven't either, but I read that it can help with the leaking out of the eyes.
