Hello to all,
Im sure this is a very commonly asked question, however I have found little to no help with what Im looking for.
My husband has a resmed S9 machine. He likes to use the full face mask. I have purchased a mirage Quattro previously however several things happened, he is a very active sleeper and has managed to snap his mask in several places and is currently being held together with electrical tape. It is now to the point in which we need to buy a new one as the tape is just not working anymore. Also when we got the mask it didn't fit properly into the heating tube so it has been taped from the get go. This mask was purchased from America so couldn't be returned. Can someone please help me with choosing a mask that will be a better choice for him being so active (Id prefer not to be buying a new one every couple of months!) and will actually fit into the tubing. It seems that there is a selection of masks available but unsure if they are all interconnectable with the s9. The airfit F10 and F20, looks good in terms of less breakable parts, the Quattro and mirage Quattro are more chunky. Thank you so much for any help you can provide. It will save both his and my sanity!
mask for resmed s9
Re: mask for resmed s9
Sorry, I have just realised this isn't an Australian site!! Chalk that one up to no sleep. I can only assume they would all be the same machines! and so hopefully someone can still help me
Re: mask for resmed s9
Any mask can be used with any machine......No special masks for S9. I have used the the same Quattro mask with my S9 for several years without problems..It's a very strong mask.

Re: mask for resmed s9
All the masks can be used with any of the cpap/apap machines.
It doesn't even have to be a ResMed mask with the ResMed machines. You can use any mask out there with the S9.
Welcome to the forum. While this is a US based forum we have members here from all over the world including several in Australia that are quite active even now.
For full face mask recommendations I can't help much because I use a nasal pillow mask system and haven't really tried all that many full face masks because they really don't appeal to me for various reasons.
I have used the Respironics Amara View full face mask though. It has no stuff over the nose which is one of my preferences....I don't do well with stuff touching the nasal bridge area of my nose.

I am a very "active" sleeper though with a lot of tossing and turning due to some back issues that pretty much force me to keep moving to get comfortable.
I was able to successfully use the Amara View and I kept it just in case I ever couldn't use my nasal pillow mask for some reason or other.
It's the only full face mask I have been able to actually sleep with for several nights. The others I have tried didn't even make it past the trying it on stage.
BTW I use a S9 most of the time..currently trying a new to me AirCurve 10 Resmed machine.
The thing about masks is that each person has different preferences and needs and my preferences and needs may not be the same as your husband's preferences and needs. They all come with a big YMMV sticker and while we can give your our thoughts on a particular mask we can't have any way to know if your husband will share the same thoughts. He's just going to have to try a mask to know for sure how it works with his own personal preferences and needs.
The Mirage Quattro has been around a long time and a lot of people just love it and the frame lasts for years for them.
There are newer masks out there that don't have as much "stuff" going on as the Quattro.
I think the F20 AirTouch looks interesting with the memory foam cushion..the plus side is that if the foam cushion doesn't work out the regular silicone cushion fits on the same frame so you don't have to buy a whole new mask set up...just swap out the cushions.

So far the biggest complaint from the people who have tried it is that it doesn't do well with higher pressures (mid teens and above) in terms of maintaining a good seal.
Finding the right mask is the hardest part of this cpap journey IMHO.
But he can use any mask that interests him with his S9...doesn't matter brand or type.
