ResMed Air Sense 10 SD Card

Post by allaneverett1 » Tue Aug 01, 2017 6:51 am

Hi, everybody. I am a definite neophyte! I have been using CPAP since 7/21/2017, just over a week.

I am interested in using Sleepyhead to track and graph my data from my ResMed Air Sense 10. I inserted an SD card in the slot. It records a file called DATALOG with the dates of the data collection days. The kicker is that the files are always empty. Is there some sort of trick to writing data onto the SD card with this machine? The user's input and flexibility seems to be very limited. "Big Brother" seems to call all the shots.

Help, if you all have any klnowledge of this.

By the way, I am very glad such a group as this exists. Many thanks!

Allan

The files probably aren't empty, they're probably hidden. You can view hidden files by making the appropriate selection on the "view" page of File Explorer. However, even if you can see them, there's not much to do with the raw files.
Basically, you need to read the files with SleepyHead or ResScan.
Most prefer SleepyHead. You can get SleepyHead by following this link to TNET Sleep Apnea Information.

Exactly which AirSense 10 model machine do you have?

AirSense 10 CPAP
AirSense 10 Elite
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her

Model names are clearly shown on the face of the machine.

Even if you could see the files you wouldn't be able to make any sense out of them without using SleepyHead or ResScan.

It is the CPAP. Many thanks for the input by the way. I did download and install Sleepyhead. I just haven't had anything to input as yet. Perhaps I could open the files with Sleepyhead. It could be that they need something to be recognized and opened. It seems curious that the file shows "Empty". At our office, even when files cannot be opened, there is some indication that there is data.

I'm probably doing something wrong. I'm pretty new to all this

You aren't doing anything wrong.
It's your model machine. The CPAP model is what I call a half assed brick. It records only very limited data...hours of use, generic AHI and a leak number. No graphs or any other details and SleepyHead can't show you anything because it needs other files/data.

The only data available even with the software is what you can see on the machine's LCD screen. Just some numbers and incomplete numbers at that.

Do you know how to turn on the on screen viewing of the limited data?
You have to change the menu options "Essentials" from usage to Plus. See the manual.
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf

I would be seeing about exchanging the half assed brick for a full data machine....any of the others I listed above are full data.
I was afraid that you might have the half assed brick and that's why there's nothing in that folder...the machine doesn't doesn't put anything in that folder.

See this...scroll down till you see the part "help, I am stuck with a brick".
https://maskarrayed.wordpress.com/

You get an AHI number but no breakdown into each category of event and the categories are very important.
You get what we call a 95% leak number which means you were AT OR BELOW that number in terms of excess leak for 95% of the night....no graphs...nothing else.
You get how many hours you used the machine. Big whoopie.

I think you've got it just about summed up! Leave it to an insurance company to do the bare minimum I guess. I am grateful to have anything at all.

Again, thanks so much for your time and assistance.

Put the blame on who deserves it and it's not the insurance company. It's the DME or person who supplied the machine to you. They might blame the insurance but the insurance company doesn't care about brand or model cpap.
The full data machines use the same HCPCS billing code as the bricks or half assed bricks...E0601.
The bricks or half assed bricks don't cost as much...so if they get paid the same amount per the code...guess which one makes them more money?

cpap or apap capable...all use the same billing code...insurance pays by billing code.

Ask the DME to swap it out...see if they will.

OK, thank you for the guidance. Assuming they are somewhat willing, what should I ask for? Remember, I used to couldn't spell CPAP, now I are one!

Again, I appreciate you guys' thoughts!

At least the Elite model...it's fixed single pressure but the AutoSet if at all possible. It has both fixed cpap mode plus auto adjusting (apap) mode available. The AutoSet is like 2 machines in one.
Both the Elite and the AutoSet models are full efficacy data.
