CPAP specific pillows

Post by stevez » Wed Jul 26, 2017 10:30 am

I am a "side" sleeper and that has at times wrecked havoc with leaks and me getting a good night's sleep. Been reviewing CPAP pillows and some seem to get pretty good reviews from those that buy them. Just wanted to see if anyone had feedback regarding these, any watchouts or recommendations? Many thanks.

P.S. Not sure it matters, but new to a BPAP/Bilevel machine and I use the Amara View mask right now. Ordered the F20 but haven't tried it yet. Thanks.

Bed pillow preferences are as varied as mask preferences. One man's treasure is another man's trash.

I use a buckwheat hull pillow and have for years. Primarily sleep on my side. I just make a little "nest" in the hulls for the mask.
It also works well for my poor old arthritic neck. I can't do big high/tall pillows at all.

If you are curious about those pillows with the cut outs for the mask...those are a bit pricey and what I usually suggest is that you go to WalMart and get one of the cheap memory foam pillows and cut out your own little "holes" for the mask before spending big bucks on one of the fancier pillows.
An electric knife makes nice easy cutting on the memory foam but a utility knife will do the trick also.

Do you place your head near the edge of the pillow so that the mask hangs over the edge?

Hi,
I also use the Amara view, and a side sleeper.
I bought a Contour Cpap pillow when I first started.
It's very comfortable, certainly does.the job.
I think I paid about $50 for it, as mentioned a bit pricey, but worth it to me...Good Luck

Thanks all; may try the walmart cheap cutout first. Great idea Pugsy. Chicago, I try to keep my head close to the edge, but it doesn't seem to stay there. I am not sure having cutouts will do the trick either or stop me from pulling back. I'll check the one out Dave you mentioned. Thanks again.

I, and many others on the board, have found the CPAPfit buckwheat hull pillow to be very effective. Web site is in my signature.
