Thank you everyone - An Update

Post by randezhnee » Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:05 pm

I wanted to thank everyone who has helped me by answering my questions and offering opinions regarding my husbands treatment.

This morning he was set up with a Remstar Auto C-Flex with Heated Humidifier with a setting of 9-16 and a full face mask.

It took some gentle (cough cough) pushing for us to get the DME guy to agree to bring up a Remstar Auto even though the DR wrote on the script that that's the machine we requested. This RT prefers the Resmed and acted a bit like we didn't know what we were doing wanting the Remstar instead of the Resmed.

He seemed to have a high opinion of himself (telling us he's the best in the state - 1st one to set up a bi-pap etc - I think he liked to hear himself talk). We preferred our other DME RT but they don't have a contract with Respironics so we're stuck with this guy. He also said that the chances of my husband staying with the AUTO setting were very small and most people go to straight CPAP after struggling with the Auto Cpap. And he didn't set up the C-FLEX option until I asked just before he left if it was done. He said something to the effect of "oh you want that on?" Ummmmmm YEAH!

I also mentioned we were planning on purchasing the software on our own in order to track my husbands progress - he about had a fit - saying patients can't have that. UGH! As my daughter would say "whatever". I bet his head would spin if he knew I just bought the Clinician Manual.

So tonight is the first night with his new machine - my fingers are crossed for a successful transition to the Remstar.

Thank you all again - you've all been so very helpful. We've both learned so much from reading this forum.

Good for you! A real, "take-charge" lady!
Oh, how I wish I'd been there to witness that.
His behavious is unbelievable - almost.
Why don't you call him up and tell him that he 'forgot' to give you the clinician/technicianal manual that is INCLUDED with the machine.

Thank you for sharing the good news. YOU and your husband did the work; you asked the right questions until you were satisfied, and now you have what you want and need. I am so pleased, and happy for both of you.
I'm also happy to hear about the 'rt' - what a blowhard and braggart he was; an embarrassment to the community.

Offerocker -

Are you the one who sells the hose sleeves? If so could you send me some info?

Thank you
