Respironics DreamStation plugin Module??

Post by racprops » Fri Jul 14, 2017 4:08 am

I have a Respironics DreamStation APAP machine.

I want and need a Byflex machine. The Respironics DreamStation Auto BiPAP DOM with Bi-Flex.

On the other side under a cover like the one on the right side holding the filters and SC Card is a cover over a removable card.

Is there any chance this is used to set up these machines as CPAP, APAP and Bi-Flex machines??

Or is it just a phone module or other used port?

Rich

There's no way that we, as users of these machines, can change an apap to a bipap.
I suspect the guts of all the models are the same but the software is what calls the shots and makes each model do what each model does...and we have no access to that internal software at all. That's all done at the Respironics (or in the case of any other brand also) factory level.

If you need or want a bipap you will have to buy a bipap.

BiFlex is just the term for the exhale relief available on the bipaps.

CFlex is just the term for exhale relief on the cpap machines.

AFlex is just the term for exhale relief on the auto (APAP) machines.

So if you are wanting just exhale relief you already have it available. AFlex works just like BiFlex would work but is just called something different.
Bipaps have both the Flex relief and the use of pressure support as exhale relief...now PS is obviously going to open up more exhale relief options than Flex relief offers.

Thanks I was hoping that external module WAS that programing part.

I have done all I can with aflex setting and so forth, it is very limited.

Well it was worth a look, old cars used to come with full standard wiring hardness, so if you knew what to do you could plug in the extra options and upgraded stuff.

New cars do not come that way any more. I thing computer picking of parts on the assembly line controls that now.

I thought they might have a basic machine and just change to programing to make a number of models.

But with car some times you can change its performance like I did with a 2000 Mercury Grand Marques by switching its stock PCM with a Police Car's PCM, big performance improvement for only $50.00.

It was pointed out to me I have a X500 and the Bi-Flex is a X700.

If you have exhausted the AFlex relief options without satisfaction then the next step would be BiPap if you want to stay with Respironics/ DSX700 or if you wanted to use ResMed then the AirCurve 10 VAuto so that you could make better use of the exhale relief offered with bilevel and PS.

The Bipaps also have Flex relief in addition to PS.
ResMed bilevels don't offer any special extra relief on top of PS ...but their easy breathe technology makes the transition pretty smooth so I don't think that having something else on top of PS is all that critical.

I have owned both brands of bilevel machines...couple of minor pros and cons with either brand but none are deal breakers or makers.

Are you wanting to purchase one on your own or do you need to have insurance do their part?
If you are able to purchase yourself I know someone who might have some bilevel machines for sale. Send me a PM if you want more information.
